Yea, I hear ya. My new look mostly consists of a heavy dose of rock rash lol. The first thing I did was cut those handle things off. Looks 100 times better without them IMO. Might be something to consider?

Pretty much stock with some crap welded to it.
Ya I've though about it, it looks a lot cleaner without them, I really like using them to slide under the truck though haha I got a bad back and they help... I really think a inch would be good so it doesn't look so empty haha..

How are you liking your bobbed bed? I was considering bobbing my bed every second I was in moab grinding my rear hitch on almost every obstacle.. I just Don't think I'm ready to weld the bed back together with my harbor freight welder quite yet.. :anonymous:

No word of a lie...I didn't hit once while I was in Moab. We did "butt scratcher", all the big ledges on golden spike. Not once did I hit going up an obstacle or going down. It's awesome! Not having to worry about approach and departure angles is a good feeling while on the trail.

I took out 10.5" of material. I didn't really want to do 13" like a lot of people do, simply because with a full sized spare in the box, it becomes pretty useless. 10.5" was the right combination IMO of retaining the usage of the box, and having a major increase of departure and approach angles. Don't get me wrong...even with 10.5" gone the box is pretty useless with my spare in there, but it's a trail truck. It's not set up for expedition style travelling.

One thing I did differently, and I highly recommend, is when cutting the rear end of the box (tailgate) section, cut it in front of the brace underneath. It's hard to explain and I don't have a picture, but if you crawl under your truck you'll see what I'm talking about. Right in front of the tail light is a structural "brace" to help keep the shape of the box/tail light section in form. I cut the box in front of this, so that when welding everything back together nothing warped and shaped differently. It also adds strength to the box...

    Hope this helps ya!!

I bet there's a lot of people that pout about having to film, but not Jeff haha! Sounds like it was the best day of his life

Hahahaha I'm pretty sure it was. We were both pretty stoked to be in Moab. Behind the rocks was the very first trail we did, so we were pumped to be out and about.

We both rolled up to guardian hill, looked at each other, and were like.... "Man, this looks 100 times steeper in person than all the videos" hahaha.

We had a great time down there. 10 days of camping, wheeling, and relaxing was a very nice way to get away from work and the city. I've already planned my next trip, first stopping in Colorado to run Holy Cross, then across to Moab again.

We had talked back and forth, but nothing is set in stone. Truthfully, I'm not holding my breath about it. If it happens it happens. He said if I would have contacted him while we were down there he would have, but being that I'm from canada and had my phone shut off in order to not get charged for roaming, I had no way of getting ahold of him.

I hated that stupid thing with a passion. Such a silly design. Unlike the Viking thimble, you can't put the "bow" part of the shackle through the hole. So if your pulling someone from their bumper, you have to put a shackle to a shackle. Which is GAYYYYYY

I switched to the new warn hook. Ballin :)

I gave it to my room mate, and it's pretty beat up. I smashed it pretty good getting up butt scratcher in Moab. It actually broke the pin. The C clip must have worked its way loose the day before on the way to the "pickle trail" (long rough road to get there), and when I went to climb butt scratcher, the thimble hit first, pulled the c clip fully out, then the pin started to fall out, and as more pressure was added from climbing the wall it finally bent the pin and snapped it.

If I ever go thimble again it'd be Viking. No questions asked

I'd just stick to the hook and put that extra $150 to synthetic line if you don't already have it. That, makes a world of a difference. Both in weight and workability on the trail. Not to mention much safer
