I just bought my Tacoma from me brother, who bought it new from the dealer. Truck has 80K on it and pretty much drives perfectly as far as I can tell.

Prior to this, whenever I needed a truck I would drive my dad's truck. He had an 02 Ram from new. Put 83K on it. Only issue ever was the AC compressor set of a light saying it may fail in the future. We replaced it anyway to not have to deal with it.

In 09 we got rid of the 02 and bought an 09 Ram. Almost 60K on that now and zero issues whatsoever. Truck runs like a champ, has almost 400hp, and gets better mpg than my Tacoma. It rides better, is quieter on the road, handles better, nicer interior. This list goes on.

There's one thing both my Tacoma and our Ram have in common. They are both maintained religiously. Every service done as needed no exceptions.

Even the best truck sucks if it's not maintained. Even the best truck will have problems now and then just by chance.

Some people expect a car to last 250k with nothing but oil changes. That's unrealistic. Every once in a while you'll have a problem or two. As long as it's not catastrophic like your motor blowing or tranny dropping, I'd say that's ok.

Is it only while accelerating? If it is, I had the exact same thing happen to me. I did a ton of research and found a number of people with the same issue. It ended up being maintenance. I "flushed" the transmission fluid and now it runs like it's brand new. Apparently Toyota shipped some tacomas with low transmission fluid from the factory, the mechanic I spoke to said flushing the transmission works about 50% of the time. Don't know for sure if it's the same as yours, but it worked for me.

Complains about not doing research when buying truck. Refuses to do research when problems arise. #Neverendingcycles

What do you expect on a Tacoma forum? To have people who don't love there trucks?
