FYI: the country is not going broke because of giving grants to low income college students

 

False, I get a PEL Grant right now. It's put in an account and I walk up to an ATM with a debit card they issued me and get cash out.

edit: With this grant they occasionally spot check to make sure the recipient is attending class and passing. There are cases where students enroll in a class, apply for the grant and then never show up and some even drop the class. yet keep the money.

 

I'm just saying if you are gonna complain about people on welfare receiving money and buying drugs/doing illegal things, why is it different when its a college kid?

 

because they will get a job and feed money to the system not drain it

thats exactly what I am saying. if you go to college you are guaranteed a job and if you are welfare you are a drain.... of course its not 100% across the board for either subject. In fact when if comes to welfare I'm sure a large number of people are just down on there luck and need help. I hope I am never at that point in my life but if for whatever reason it got to that I know it would be nice to have a hand. However I am sure there are also people who get their checks and don't contribute to society at all. Where as a majority of college students do go on to get jobs (although it doesn't seem like it now) and go on to be productive people.
