Can't get the tie Tod out of the ball joint, tried pb blaster and beating on the sides of the ball joint to pop it loose, might have to rent a puller or something pretty sure they have been in there for a long time

Edit: if anyone has tips or tricks to help get stuck tie rod ends and Ball joints out of appreciate it!

I replaced my rusting out chrome front bumper. I bought the truck used in '12 and noticed some hairline cracks in the chrome. Soon it started peeling off.

It was pretty easy to get the bumper assembly off and when we turned it over we found something interesting.

Yep a replacement bumper (a crappy one also) and the lower black valence was aftermarket also! The CPI bumper was rusting out all over. Just breaking loose the mounting screws with an air wrench had pieces of chrome blowing all over the place.

I got my new bumper from Certifit. We'll see how long it lasts. The lady I bought the truck from bought it used when it was 3 yrs old and she swears that's how she got it and it was never wrecked in the 7 years she had it. The frame didn't look damaged. CarFax showed no collisions. Just makes me wonder what else I don't know about my truck.

No need for a puller. Heat, along with a bfh and it should pop out.

One of my friends invited me over to her place for wine. And she told me to bring an extra bottle. I should forget about my truck by nights end.

I've been in 5 - 6 accidents in my truck and I don't think any of them are on carfax.. It won't show up if you don't report it to the dmv or something like that.

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.

I used a pickle fork which didn't work. Then I rented the BJ puller from auto zone. It had the smaller one for the Tie rods and the wider one for the BJ's. Those worked like a charm

I used the buy new lowers and tie rob method. Destroyed the tie rod with a Pickel fork so I just said fuck it and pulled both of them.

This smaller one does the outer tie-rod ends
    http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/OEM-Tie-rod-puller/_/N-264w?itemIdentifier=555631_0_0_

This larger one will do the LBJs:
    http://www.autozone.com/autozone/ac...rm-puller/_/N-264w?itemIdentifier=555623_0_0_

The price was worth just buying them. $15 ea. or thereabouts.

I put them on, torque 'em down a bit then give the knuckle a good rap. Usually the joint pops free first hit.

I think they can also be rented/borrowed from Autozone but like I said, if you know you'll be working on the truck more, might as well buy 'em.
