Hey guys so I have a 2011 Toyota Tacoma TRD V6, roughly 45k miles on it. I am now starting to notice a strange sound when I press on the gas pedal.(This has not been there before, and no mods or services have been done to change anything) the most recent thing which was 7k miles ago was changing the spark plugs) The sound sounds like its coming from the gas pedal area and it sounds like gas is being gulped. it just sounds like the gas is being jugged. This happens at any speed regardless if I'm going 10mps or 60mph. It usually happens when I'm going up hill but when this goes away when I press the gas pedal harder. I have not gone to the dealer as they will charge me touch just to look at it, in addition to messing up on my tire rotation before.. ( denting rim and putting weights on wrong places causing my brake caliber to rip them off as I drove off the lot) so IF I CAN I DONT WANT TO GO TO THE DLR TO SOLVE THIS.I hear the same sound on my 2001 taco but its more severe & has over 100k miles on it... but more severe Should I be worried? Is this fixable? Is this something you guys notice on your tacos? Would this have anything to do with changing my spark plugs even though they were change 6+ months ago ?

Check your antifreeze you are low. What you are hearing is air and antifreeze being pushed through your heater core. Check for a leak your cooling system should not be low.

Sounds like pinging or spark knock based on the circumstance when it happens. What gas are you using? 87 or 91? New gas station??

Pinging? Not even close to the sound description the OP gave.

I used to have an old Mazda pickup and it made the same sound when low on coolant.

I use 87 which i believe is regular gas.. Usually at chevron or shell. These gas stations have been around as long as ive lived here
