Dude, that's our history. It helps to know it. Sorry you find it boring. In reality its fascinating. Our founding fathers were renegade, cutting edge, and almost purely libertarian in their views. In reality they'd probably find the bulk of today's politicians on both sides to be regressive and not having any balls. These men were in fact risking their lives defying an oppressive, heavily church-influenced Britain overseas.

Yet The typical thing you hear is:
    - with the assumption that these were humble, uber-conservative, and strictly Christian men with wholesome values. The fact that most people think that is proof to me that most people don't know their history very well... or they find it boring. That's our loss.

    And your point is?

The founders were mostly diests. Is this supposed to be a surprise?

The founders believed we had rights that came from God and no government has a right to infringe upon them.

Part of the problem is that the "ordinary people" assume that every person carrying a gun is a criminal. They also don't know anything about the laws regulating guns, or about what a hobbyist might do with a gun. It's just ignorance. If more people open carried and the media didn't make such a big stink about it, then we might see a change in public opinion.

On another point, people have irrational fears...it's inevitable. My grandmother is afraid of dogs, but it doesn't mean that your average paris hilton type shouldn't be allowed to carry her rat dog in her purse, or that it's reprehensible. And yes, she fears all dogs.

Im moving to Arizona, when im old enough :D. Was there a couple weeks ago in the Phoenix airport and loved the area. We, as in the liberal state congress, here in NC like to tax and spend. They recently passed a budget that cut education by a good portion. Next, they will be after our guns.

They are now taxing my tax in NC. A "surcharge" on my income tax. Politicians make me puke. Especially those that have made it their life's work.
