I'll just copy and paste this. Things are good!!

Home therapy started early yesterday. Amazing the things you can do when you HAVE to do for yourself. Obviously, I couldn't have made it home from the hospital by myself. Thx .

So, a timeline of what transpired.
Friday, may 2nd approx 8:30-9:00am- Finished answering some e-mails and was preparing for some sleep. Had some yard work and maybe some off roading later that evening. Proceeded downstairs (15 wooden and a wooden landing). I was sidestepping the last 5-6 stairs and my right ankle gave out and the since I was already sideways, the next thing to hit the ground was my right hip.

11:30am?- After a few hours writhing on the floor on my back going from the front door to the alarm system, back and forth, an officer showed up. At that time out of shear desperation, I somehow managed to climb 10 of those stairs back to the top to try and retrieve my phone to call 911.
EMS shows up and im off to easley baptist hospital. xrays, blah, blah, blah.

No orthopedic surgeon on call or avail at easley baptist so i'm transferred to greenville memorial sometime around 2pm-3pm?

    4pm. More xrays, iv's, narcs,
Surgeons deciding whether or not they will start surgery or wait till the morning.

    11pm? Surgery.
    3-4 screws/pins. Not sure about a plate.
Rough nite trying to sleep. Hospital beds with the air bladders that keep inflating/deflating totally suck.

8am sat. Finally was able to eat/drink for the first time in 30 some hrs.

3pm sat. Therapist comes by and asks if i would try and like to walk on some crutches. "What"? ok, lets do it, i decide.
Things go well. in and out of sleep for the rest of the day/nite.

8am sunday. Doc asks if im ready to go home. lol.
My ride comes by and im home by 11:30am.

I chill in the living room for a bit and relize I need a shower and a nice cool bed. Make it UP those dreaded 15 stairs, shower, slept really well despite no pain meds since 6am sun morn.

monday. 7am 5/5. Just made it back downstairs to gather some items and back up the stairs. Doc says I need to try and get around to try and prevent blood clots. Found some aspirin so I wont even need to get to the pharmacy for oxycodones. I have no use for a narc that makes me completely numb.

Things are going really well. Now time to deal with insurance/work stuff.
    Everyone have a great day!
    Richard.

Yea, im quite surprised at the time givin and what i'm able to accomplish.
I just have to keep reminding myself of the astrinomical numbers of those injured while ON crutches.

Amazing blow by blow. Never been stuck on crutches, I imagine they could be somewhat tricky. Good luck for a quick recovery.

Hey Rich, glad to read the progress. Sounds good, all things considered. Do be extremely careful on those crutches, you have to think about what you're doing every move. Spent two weeks on crutches after knee surgery ... And had one fall down the stairs during that time. I managed to not do damage to myself or the knee, but my wifes antique Singer sewing machine didn't fair so well as it took the major portion of my landing. 245 pounds (then) on a 6'2" frame doesn't land soft.

How long do they think you'll be on crutches? The prognosis must be good since you're home already. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you my friend. But don't get in a hurry on those crutches, that's where I f'd up and fell down the stairs.

Have fun with all the paperwork. That'll probably keep you busy for a while.

Thanks for catching us up. Keeping you in my thoughts.

    Rob

PS: Haven't forgot about the serial number, but my friend isn't on base any more, so I couldn't drop her an email. Going to call her today.

Just remember, no kickboxing until you're off the crutches... :D

    lol. ok, No kickboxing.

Not sure about recovery time. Am already standing still with weight on that side, just no weight when walking. I have an appt in 2 weeks with the surgeon so i'll be out atleast that long.
Just glad to leave the hospital, they are kinda creepy to me. The OR felt like some kinda weird bunker 3 miles underground.

Took the night off sick. Been fighting what I thought was allergies but now the lymph nodes in my neck are swollen so I decided to get some more rest to try and fight it off.

    Just woke up... :spy:

Lot of sick folks lately. I think some of it starts with allergies and turns into something else. The irritation makes it easy for something else to take hold ... That's my theory any way ... not that I'm at all qualified to make a medical diagnosis.

    Hope you feel better.

Hey there hop-a-long, how ya feeling? Get your paperwork done?

I finally got the front yard thatched out; fertilizer and throw the sprinklers at it this morning.

Oh nice! I think I might try and hop on the mower tomorrow. I also have some scotts feed and weed I need to get out.
Things are good here, just one more call for a return visit to the ortho surgeon in 2 weeks. Doing all the stuff that I normally do around here, just takes me a bit more time.
