When I had my Nissan, I would start it up in the morning, and nothing out of the ordinary would happen. When I start my Tacoma, I hear Angels in Heaven sing!

Like I said, I meant no harm. I guess things like that are not taken lightly where some people live. Where I am from, we don't have to many japanese folks around. Except for a good friend of mine at work whose name is Jap, and a girl who's wedding I am standing in next weekend.

Thanks for everyones responses. I really do like my frontier, I find it is very truck like, similar to an old (non-ford) Mazda I had. It has lots of power but I have never raced a Taco though. I do agree with the interior plastic comments for sure. I guess the best way to find out which one I like better is to buy one and drive it for a few years! My Frontier will actaully be traded in on a RAV4 and we will be using that and our Corrola for now. When I get that mostly paid for, or when I am in non truck withdrawls, I will head back to our local dealer here in Sudbury and pick myself up a TRD.

Its cool to see all the Canadians in here!

Cheers to everyone, sorry I pissed a few people off!

I initially had a tough time choosing between Tacoma, Frontier, and Dakota. Several things affected my choice between Tacoma and Frontier:

    1. On the Nissan's side, they had more comfortable seats for my wife, fully boxed frame, and (on paper anyway) more power.

    2. The closest Frontier in my option range (not the highest model, but up to the next one down) with side air bags was located 1200 miles away. I'm in the center of the United States and they almost had to go to the /Oceans/ to find one. Every Tacoma made in 2009 had side air bags.

    3. The Frontier option packages were more restrictive. If I wanted vehicle stability control, it had to be on one of the top two models, and had to be 4x4 and had to be V6. Every Tacoma made in 2009 had vehicle stability control (among other features in the STAR safety system).

Honestly, it was still a tough choice right up until I couldn't get the stability control and side airbags without going so far up in the model and options that the Tacoma became way, way cheaper. When I gave the dealer the opportunity to beat the Tacoma price, using the $3,000 rebate the Frontier had at the time, he could only /match/ the Taco price. WTF?

    Hands down win, Tacoma.

Yes, because the rear Tacoma bumper would simply crumple like tinfoil. Wait, it IS tinfoil.

Impossible you have a TRD Off Road double cab made for the canadian market.

it has to be a converted US model. Because they were never sold.

and if you're close to calgary or edmonto you should join forum.ct4wd.com

Tons of room, plenty of power for towing. I have the V6.
My 05 has 125,000 miles. I'm on the original battery, no repairs, I have only had to do normal maintenance; tires, brakes, oil changes, spark plugs, etc.

Best vehicle I have ever owned. Plus you get the great help of Tacoma world for all your needs.:D

I just cleaned the throttle body & WOW! The power I have recovered. It drives like it did when I bought it.:burnrubber:

When I was buying a truck, I looked at the Nissans, but the Tacoma was a better truck overall. Plus I had friends who had problems with their Nissans.

I had a 08 Nissan Frontier as a rental while my Taco was in the shop after an accident and the frontier rode like a minivan... it was low and soft. It also had awkward seating... It just felt like I was in a minivan

    Tacoma > Frontier

oh I also use to own a 03 Supercharged Frontier crewcab

wow lots of hate for the frontier here. i have an 04 and i couldnt ask for anything better. that being said the tacoma is a nice truck as well, both frontier and tacoma are the best mid size (and compact) trucks on the market. i have 54k miles on my 2004 with the n/a 3.3 and though it could e more power it runs like a champ and i have had no issues at all with it. anyhow good luck with your alls tacomas! and keep on truckin!

had an 01 crew cab frontier 4x4 AT N/A. cranked torsions w/31" bfg AT's, that thing seemed like a slug compared to the 4.0 tacoma even w/ 33's :p

traded it in w/95k on it. ran like a champ

should have kept it and paid it off, but i am way happier w/my tacoma
