Get one. Used properly, they are very nice.

They are not good on wide angles because the sky will tend to band, but they can be very helpful in reducing haze on longer lenses... my 67mm was still on order or my shot of downtown LA behind the Griffith Observatory would have been much clearer.
I also like to use them to darken the sky, make the clouds pop, and overall reduce reflections.

I've looked at that. Oh man, so nice but so expensive.

SmugMug has a bunch of prints on the walls that are giant panos.

    This one:
(on the back wall) was shot with a 300 from across the plaza. It's hard to tell in this cell phone pick but I want to say it's between 150-200 frames. Then stitched together. I don't think it was done with PS. All done by hand (standing on a statue). They have another that is hanging on the walls of a conference room. It covers the SF Bay Bridge (Treasure Island anchorage) all the way to the Golden Gate. It blows me away-you can see people in the buildings-again, shot with a 500mm lens on a home made tripod (very heavy support) and my hand.

It's crazy what you can do with a long lens if you're making a pano.

Ahh ok. No flash, I wish I had one for the blacks in the wheels and some of the detail. I tried bracketing originally but just could not get it to look right in post.

    Exactly.

If you could see that print up close, there is detail at the top of the cathedral that you could never see if you were standing in front of the place. You could look at any part of it and see carving details that are just amazing.

I tried to download hugin, it downloaded a ton of horseshit on my computer, except the F-ing program to stitch panoramas. Although it might have, but I cannot find it. However, every time I open something, some other horseshit program opens too. I hate computers.
I tried it again, I may have figured it out.

Yeah, I think I got it now, and got that other crap off the computer. I hope, blech.
Guess it didn't work. It says there is a problem with hugin. My goodness.
It says it stopped working and searches for a solution, then says there isn't one. I quit.
I took a cool shot tonight that I wanted to stitch too.

Shot this behind my shop tonight. The sky was going crazy, I was hoping for some lightning, but no dice.

    Lots...see build
Ben that looks sorta like the hills in that old Windows desktop background! :p
    Really cool shot!
And wow, those clouds are awesome, TJ!
Aha! I finally searched and found where my panorama program came from. It came with my Nikon point and shoot, strangely enough...the one that has a panorama function built in! Well anyways, so that program is a looot better than the zoombrowser EX one that did in fact come with my T2i
Edit: Oh sweet panos, TJ! Those came out great!

I didn't see your shot Ben. I must have missed it in my panoprogram rage. That is a great shot!
