I don't know if it's possible, but if you can make it look semi-vintage in-camera and finish it in post, I think that'd be even cooler

Always out for these challenges though. I'd have to burn through a whole roll, set up a darkroom myself or drop it off to be scanned to digital format, wait, pick it up, and still pull it up in LR and finish up any tweaks . . . all in less than a week ha possible, but I don't feel like wasting film and burning through a roll that fast haha

I did that all the time when I was testing the OM-D E-M1 that I borrowed for about a month. It had all sorts of pre-processing options in camera. I could set anything I could ever want and then some.

I'll see if my current camera has anything that'll work but I'd rather do it in post. I've been playing with LR lately trying to get a vintage/film look.

    +1

For a challenge, I might take 2 shots, or I might take 20, but unless every one has focus issues or exposure issues that can't be corrected, I put the effort into taking it, one is getting submitted.

Also think beyond edits and consider the composition and location.
Old architecture, a model wearing depression-era clothing... set up a shot that could have been taken on an old box camera, but with a modern subject.
You could get away with that with only softening the color and not going full sepia.

the focus shouldn't be old architecture. It would have to be modern architecture..

Just google "vintage photoshop actions" if you end up in a pinch and need quick help to get something to submit.

Its really not to hard. I like playing with lens flares. Just create a new layer and fill it black. Add a flare of your choice and set it to color dodge.

If I don't like my shots then I won't submit. :p. If I don't like it then why should Monte?

This was my first attempt at making digital look semi-analog:

[IMG]LR Film Simulation Attempt.jpg by AdelphosChaz, on Flickr

    NOT AN ENTRY (Obviously).

I won't clog it with more. There are some more edits on my Flickr in a specific album. I'm not good at it or anything. Just playing around between finishing up school work. It was my reward to myself for finishing papers and such haha I only share for those trying to think of ideas to make things look vintage. There's plenty you can do other than changing the tone. Add noise, change the luminance and colors, temp, hue, vignette, whatever. Play with the tone curve as well. Just fiddle for a while until something looks right haha trial and error is what I do . . . Good luck on this challenge fellas. This is going to be a really good one.

(I felt biased saying "fellas" but I'm safe. Are there no female photographers on here? haha)

I was talking about the setting....
Like a Delorean appearing in an 1895 town, but the focus of the shot being the car, everything else just dressing.

Seems the subject has to be modern, as you note in your suggestion. I don't know that old architecture or clothes would fit that but it'd be cool if someone went to a car show and got some shots of a brand spanking new supercar or something and then made it look like an old photo from years ago ha
