Yes he was. He also recorded an album with Duran Duran but my favorite bands he was in was Jon Finn Group and Two Ton Shoe. He is currently working as a professor at Berklee Collage of Music where he shares an office with Rod Morgenstein. I knew he had done the modern drummer festivals in the past but I didn't know he did it again last year.

 

Thanks. I have a long time love/hate relationship with them. German electrical systems are a pain. Patience and precision are rewarded (most of the time) and thoughtful re-engineering covers the rest of the problems. Most everything else is as reliable as any other car.

Anyone ever deaL with pre fab houses before? Mine is one, which we knew when buying it. Went to mount the tv last night on the wall in the living room and could not find a stud. Went out and got a new stud finder since the old one just kept giving me errors. The new one would tell me there was a stud when I moved it from left to right, but from right to left over the same spot nothing. It was also telling me there are hot wires all back there. Drilled a few small pilot holes and nothing back there. Wall is probably 8 feet wide. Looking at it closer you can see where the drywall screws are and they make an almost perfect outline of a window. Problem is our Windows are just about floor to ceiling. Just past this wall the living room bumps down in width making almost another small room. To me it looks like since its a pre fab house where the wall I want to mount my tv is could have been the end of the house, but they added on the little additional room. Seems like it was framed to have a window, which looks to be about 6x6 judging by the out line the drywall screws make. But they added on the additional room and just dry walled over the window box. Anyone ever run into something like that?

Pretty pissed, bought a cool floating av center thing, and a heavy duty swing arm mount for our 52" tv. Now literally the whole wall seems like it's nothing more than a window box with drywall slapped over it.

 

Yes, our last house was a prefab put-together unit, built in 2000.
Never ran into anything like that though...Ours was standard 16" OC 2x6's throughout.
Looks like if you want to mount your Television there you're going to have to cut the drywall out, frame in where that window cutout is, reinstall your drywall, and them mount your tv.
Sounds like fun.
Or maybe find a different spot to hang it?

 

What you're describing sounds like a crappy contractor and not necessarily related to the house being pre-fab. Pre-fab houses can have their own host of 'issues' but your particular situation was just laziness. Structurally, the window should have had a header so there is no need structurally to have a stud in the window area but they should have put a stud there to help reinforce the drywall at the least. I have seen what you're describing in other houses, none of them were pre-fab though.

 

Ya, my wife wanted all this stuff up prior to the baby shower this weekend. Definitely not going to happen. So instead, she went out and bought this combination electric fireplace and entertainment center thing. For some reason she hates the current 3 tier glass av center.

And ya unfortunately the only option would be to rip the wall down and put studs in. The way the room is and the Furnature we have it's really the only place to put the tv. Plus it's where the cable outlet is, I don't feel like running new wire.

 

Can you set the TV on that?

 

Ya, it's basically an av center with a built in "fire box"
