Does anyone Mountain Bike, here?

It's a great way to interact with nature, and a hell of a way to get in shape fast!

With fuel prices going the way they are, I think this thread might bear some relevance.

 

I have an old Trek 4900 hardtail (I bought it in 2000) but I havent ridden it in over 4 years. I bought a Honda CRF250R in 04 and the mountian bike has sat since then. I have since sold the Honda so I have thinking of getting back into ridding my trek.

 

I have an 03 Haro X3 DH frame... that i have built up... nothing is stock about it.. used to work in a bike shop so i got some cheap parts... I ride all the time though its always fun!

 

I had a Stumpjumper Comp hardtail from Specialized that I bought in 1990 for $1,100. I added shocks to the front and kept the weight around 27 lbs. I easily put about 2,000 miles on it and then one day someone came up to me and wanted to buy it. I ended up selling it for $700 bucks (which I found out was a phenomenal price). Something tells me that the price of bikes will start to climb soon.

 

the ruckus was a sweet bike i had one of those... i have had all sorts of bikes from back in the day of working in a bike shop it seemed that i got a new bike eevery season... the girlfriend has never been a fan of all of em but just wait till i get my truck and she sees all i have planed for that... LOL

same here i payed the employee price for em as well did you work in a shop?

 

I think it was $200 something at Costco. So far I've had it 5 months and not broke anything on it. Thats a personal record

I've been looking into getting started in mountain biking, but the last bike I had, had Spider-Man decals on it and a sweet clown horn. I don't even know where to begin.

Gimme some tips.

 

What do you mean by "physical issues?"

And, what should I look for when test riding?

 

Thanks for all the info, Isocoee. I don't have a specific physical issue other than being fat...hence, the mountain bike. I don't know why I didn't think about the test ride like a motorcycle test ride.

since there aren't many trails near me that i can take my truck to, the next best thing is mountain biking. the trails around here are maintained beautifully.

i started with a Giant Ranier, and about two years ago when i worked as a mechanic at a bike shop for my summer job, i went crazy with the employee discount and upgraded all of the parts to the high end stuff.

the summer is great because there are races every weekend...and the prize money isn't bad either. still haven't gotten sponsored though
