    Hey everyone,

I have a 4 cylinder prerunner with 4 doors. A lot of people hate on it and think it's pretty slow, but with my experience I actually find it pretty great and it keeps up with my friend's trucks.

The problem is that I really want to get a lift on it. I am definitely getting 33in tires that are probably not going to be too wide. I know some people with a 3in lift and it rides fine with the tires, but I really like the 6in lift look and am on the border on which to get.

Looking for opinions, new to tacomaworld so take it easy on me, please!

I run 33x12.50x15s and just have a spacer lift at the moment but have bilstein 5100's that are going on on Friday and will have full 3" lift and just a personal preference I wouldn't go with a 6" lift but if that the way you want to go good luck.plenty of places and info on here just search for it.

    Good luck.
6" is going to look goofy with 33's, and if you go bigger than 33 you're going to hate your truck.

Oh haha I actually couldn't find it when I was looking for it. I looked at a bunch of pages for something like this thinking that there was no search feature.

Once again still trying to get use to the website so thanks.

So you're saying you need a search button to find the search button? :D

Yea, that's probably the best thing to do. Not sure what engine you have or your specs, but did you regear your truck when you got these tires? I was told that if I wanted bigger and heavier tires then I would need to regear.

    ^Pretty much nailed it.. haha
A nice 3 inch lift would probably be perfect, for me at least.. It really depends on what your doing with your truck!

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
Best lift for a pre-runner is a spindle lift, IMO. I think the options are 3" or 4". If you want a full 6" lift then you could add a 2" lift coil like OME or eibach. If you have the $ then Coilovers like icon, fox, kings would be better over the lift coils.

As for the spindles there are a couple brands out there for 2nd gens, so you have a couple options at least. The best part about spindle lifts is it doesn't screw with the stock (front) suspension geometry.

I bought a rough country 3" spacer lift and run on stock 245/75r16... looks a little off but not ugly. (Im cheap) HOWEVER, I have never had an issue with clearance! I think if you went between a 31"-33" your prerunner would do just about anything you want it to. Personally, Im just going to keep my stock rims and put the goodyear authority A/T tires on my wheels and call it a day. I dont have the TRD package with locking rear diff and I've only gotten stuck 2 times (see sig pic below) they were operator error and not even extremly capable 4wd could get out of what i was in... long story short stick with the 3" lift and unless you plan on mud bogging a nice-ass truck...

I have the 2.7 5speed and no I did not regear for that didn't really need to yet may end up doing that in the near future buts fine now and I will be running bilstien 5100s all the way around with eibach coils up front and a 2" AAL in the rear.

I have the same truck except its a 2014 and im thinking of putting a 4" lift kit and i might add 2" spacers to the front to give it that cali lift ! I seen how it looks with a much higher lift on my friends chevy and it looks good on his truck !
