Got my truck back today. I did the first 15 min drive and let it cool already. Will do it again twice after work. I drove easy so it was hard to tell much of a difference, but there definitely is one. I can't wait to get on it.

that's actually pretty good. I have 4.56 and 33s and it's a lot higher (and louder) at 70mph

So I was told (in order to save a little $) that I could use napa 80-90 non synthetic oil basically for the break in period (500 miles) then switch to valvoline full synthetic 75-90. I might just go valvoline all the way for the safety and longevity of my new gears...

You will want to use straight dino for break in.

    1. You won't get the heat high enough with synthetic to break the gears in properly.
    2. You'll be dumping it in 500 miles after break-in. Waste of money.

This. You guys are WAY overthinking breaking in your gears.

After install, run 20 miles. Stop and let cool completely. Do it again. Don't tow anything for 500 or so miles. You're good to go. If you do this and they break, they're either cheap gears or a bad install.

I did this and will be changing the oil at 500 miles. I'm sticking with the stuff ECGS said to use. Maybe I'll switch to synthetic next time.
