All the American loyalty in the nation can't get them to make a better vehicle. If it sells, they'll keep makin' trucks crappy. That's why I left too. You want Toyota? Buy one then I say :) What's interesting is that you want to get out of a GM so bad ..but.. you now want to wait for a future model because of this and that..all good..BUT.. IMO Past or Present model you can't go wrong, so if you want one now, get one now. The reason you want a Toyota is "because" of it's past awesomeness :)

Yeah, if the dealer gets the right price, I may be hopping in one of these sooner rather than later.

Spoke to the guy, how hard can I haggle these things? Living in MI my wife's family works for GM so we have family discounts, basically as low as they'll go without haggling. How hard can I push toyota?

Guess I can play the "I'll just wait for the Colorado with my family discount" card and see if they get good on price. I know they'll have to find it out of state since it's rare you see tacomas here.

I've been considering a '14 but I don't know when Toyota will actually bring a 3rd gen Tacoma out since they like to go by "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Sucks but I guess I'll stick with my 01 til' I hear something about a next generation Taco.

How many parking lots would you NOT be allowed to park in?

Every 'union' parking lot around here bans ALL foreign make vehicles. What qualifies as foreign made and American made is up for some debate. Can I park a Camaro, that's made in Canada, there? How about my Made in Mexico Dodge? The American made Tacoma or Honda?:D

The problem with the 2015 Colorado is that it's still a Chevy…

I bought my truck about 2 months before the new Colorado and such were announced including things like the rumored diesel Frontier.

Personally I like that I'm on the tail end of a production run. Over the last 9 years the taco has had many refinements and issues sorted out. The issues left are well documented. It's technologically simple, i.e. less to break in 10 years, but has the tech where I really want it (touchscreen/MFD). I also highly doubt future trucks will be available in a manual trans which for me is a big deal.

My last vehicle had all the bells and whistles and when it was 8 years old and 165,000 miles the powertrain was strong but the rest of the bells and whistles were breaking and were VERY expensive, it was a European car. My aunt and uncle who bought a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee with all the bells and whistles had their horn $380, and sunroof motor $1,200, go out at 45,000 miles just out of warranty.

I'd only switch if the new trucks weren't bigger than the current "midsize" trucks, they had diesel engines, and were available in a manual trans. I figure the new powertrains and trims will take at least a year or two to get sorted out and to provide some maintenance history to judge their soundness which pushes a theoretical purchase out to model year 2017 at a minimum as the Colorado diesel is expected in model year 2016. I doubt any of the new trucks will be available in a manual much less a diesel in a manual so I'll most likely just supercharge the '14 I have in a couple years after the warranty expires and I save up some cash.

Not a whole lot of haggle with Toyota's. They don't do the list for 40k and sell for 33k like ford does. The reason they don't is simple, they don't have to. Someone will buy the truck. I got that response from 3 different dealerships. Good luck.

If you like the Taco's now buy one. There's always gonna be something new and improved coming out. Or if your a diesel fan you may want to wait to next year. Nissan salesman told me the 2015 Titan and Frontiers are both getting new design and diesel option. I basically bought my 2014 to drive about 3-4 years and then slide into a gen 3 diesel if there is one availible, if not I'll keep it longer.

I'd get the 2014 (well I did get it lol). Like others have said, resale value is definitely your friend. The 2014 is a really proven build. Besides-what if the redesign is fugly? :D

I know from a VERY reliable source, no manual tranny on the Colorado unless it's the W/T.

I'm pretty set, getting the Taco. I don't plan to trade in even if a diesel comes out. I may buy a 4th gen diesel or something similar on the tail end of the 3rd gen.

My goal is drive this until repair is more than buying new.

The articles change every year. Sometimes they only edit the year, sometimes they make up more shit, but until you hear it from Toyota, it's all bullshit.

There was even an article last year that the '14 was getting a DI Ecoboost that Toyota worked on with Ford.
