Issue with the weather app on 2014 entune premium with nav

Anyone that has the 2014 entune audio premium with nav unit been having this particular issue with the weather?

The weather pops on and gives me the current weather where I am when I get in the vehicle on my home screen. But when I head out to other places, the weather never changes or updates unless I hit audio or any other button and then go back to the home screen. There are certain spots where I know it is an updated city and it does not update to the new city unless I do what I mentioned above. I have to do this every time in order to get updates in new areas. Is there a way to set the frequency in which it scans or updates, mine never does?

 

This happening for anyone else?

 

Mine would update every 25 minutes I think. It would usually find weather at the closet town when it did update after that 25 minutes.

 

The weather works fine for me and updates as I drive to the "Current Location". Sometimes it might be a bit off when I first start the engine, but it will sync if I hit the "Home" button.

Make sure you have "Home" set according to the instructions in the Navigation manual (page 226). Then make sure the Weather settings are set the way you want them (page 130.) I have the Home screen set to three panels with Weather on one, Location on another and Phone Favorites on the third and it works for me.

 

I have my weather/traffic set for hd radio as primary and my cell as secondary. When out of hd range, it is not using the cell signal, even if the phone is connected via USB port. Any ideas?

 

Mine is a 13 Entune with Nav and mine is set with BT and Cell. Weather changes to wherever my Cell is getting the signal from. Don't know if that helps you or not? I leave the traffic running all the time for the Nav also so I'll know if any delays are expected. Never have come close to running over my Data plan on the phone (4Gig) and I use it for everything.

 

Thanks Rear. It sounds like your system is functioning as it is supposed to. My son is sharp on tech issues and he was thinking there may be a setting issue with my iPhone. He is going to look at it when I see him next. I am also due for service so may speak to the dealership about it as well.

5,000 miles on this truck now. Just returned from a long trip into the woods. Overall, really enjoying this truck.

 

I'm not sure how the Entune works on the 14. I know there are a few differences but if it is anything like mine you should download the Entune app. Then Bluetooth your phone to the radio. Once they pair it should give you a option to use your data on your phone to operate.

I actually have the entune app and the phone is paired to the system. I do not see the same message that you demonstrated, mine will just say traffic or weather is not available, which happens when I am out of hd signal range. I was headed into some bad weather and wished I could have brought up the weather map. Yes, I could have stopped and pulled it up my my phone, but I want my system to function as advertised.

Toyotoa has mislead us on the entune radio. it appears that you dont get the apps suite unless you spring for the entune radio with navigation. Most dont know this until they have bought their vehicle, and then, it is just tough luck for you! I am coming from Honda vehicles, and never saw this kind of deception. The brochure on 14 Tacomas say my vehicle it also suppose to have a outside temp gauge in mirror and auto dim mirror…it aint there and does not say it on the window sticker, but it says it in the brochure I got and picked from before I bought it. We still pay for it and dont get it! I have the 14 TRD Sport.

 

Not trying to be argumentative. But if it was not on your window sticker and you bought the truck anyway then that is not Toyota's fault it's yours. As you mentioned, it wasn't on your window sticker so you didn't pay for it. Just because it shows a premium radio in a brochure or a temp / compass in the mirror does not mean you automatically get those options. The only options you get are the one's listed on the window sticker of your truck. Nothing more. If you failed to read the window sticker I fail to see how that is Toyota's fault?

there is this same thread on the T4R forums IIRC, if you set your radio to a clear channel station, it should update the weather on HD systems.

 

My weather seems to always point to a nearby city, not the one I'm actually in. The disappointing part is, it seems to pick the "suburb" cities right outside of the major city that I'm in. Doesn't make much sense, but I haven't sat down and made a real attempt to understand what the app is trying to do or to fix it.

 

Yea I am experiencing the same things on my weather app...also my navigation is not in synch with the roads...it's off a bit...I know they all are but I am missing turns because of it.

Does it do it all the time or every once in a while? I've noticed that about once a month (happened yesterday) when I leave the station going home the Nav will just go batshit crazy and put me about 20 miles off for some reason. Usually lasts for 10 - 20 mins and then auto corrects itself. I have no idea why it does this but it has done it maybe 4 times. I don't know if it just loses sat. signal or what? But like I said, it's only every month or so and only happens when leaving the station. It's kind of weird but nothing that I can replicate to take it back to the dealership and doesn't really bother me as it fixes itself within a few mins.

 

And that is one reason I'm glad I got a 13 instead of a 14. I know the 13 uses the phone data instead of the HD radio signal.

 

is the city you always get temp from the same location as the HD radio station?

but then again, I don't use the entune apps except maybe Pandora (since the apps on the phone are years ahead of entune anyway). otherwise I use the vehicle temp gauge or use weather app on the phone.

 

I'm kind of upset that the weather app does not work now that I put a stubby antenna on my truck. Everything else works just fine with the new antenna except for the weather app. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

 

I had a month old Toyota brochure and it said it was on a 14 Sport and I believed the misleaders at Toyota. Believe me, IF I ever buy another Toyota I will check all this out as I now consider Toyota a bait and switch operation Company now! It won't happen again! Toyota needs some class action suits against them and perhaps they will stop the games they play with our money!
