I really shouldn't talk I'm just getting into leading myself  when I have the money to stay putting together a rack I'm going to try and have a good mix of stuff. I really like tricams, passive or active when you need it and their super easy to place

I have probably made this joke a few times...because it's true and hilarious. But my buddies friend had said fishing up here is BS. You can catch a fish so long as the fly floats and has a decent hook on it. So he made a fly with his pubes and is waiting until he spots a real lunker to test it out

Clean is a relative term when it comes to camping. I do try to take care of my stuff and not abuse it. My ground tent is about 6 years old and looks brand new. My camp chairs are over 10 years old and with the exception of one tiny burn mark from a campfire ember they still look new.

Don't you worry about little critters sneaking under the tarp at night? That would drive me crazy...wake up with a squirrel or a skunk of something inches away from my face :goingcrazy:

Impressed that you sew too....most guys don't bother with that sort of skill

    That guy's from MT....drives a Taco too :D
I took a class of his and to start he asked everyone to raise their hands then starting calling out weights. When he got to a weight that you guessed matched the total weight of your gear you were supposed to put your hand down. I was the last one with my hand up and he was at like 40 pounds or something. He said that there was no way my camping gear weighed 40 pounds. I told him that my tent (had just gotten the RTT) weighed over 100 pounds. He thought I was nuts...

But for those that like them they're awesome! I wont even use a tarp unless the weather looks like it could be nasty

I used to sleep without a tent when I was a kid with my dad, I don't mind the animals, I don't like the bugs

I'm all good with getting out and roughing it but I need a little separation between me and all of the forest critters. Not sure I could sleep a wink with just a tarp...

Just got back from a quick one-nighter. I thought it was going to just start pouring rain on me at any moment the whole time I was out but it was just cloudy. And cold! I had a fire going nonstop to keep warm. I almost ran out of firewood, had to start scrounging around for little bits here and there (forgot to pack my saw).

    Let's just say I'm a baby about bugs:D

That is my favorite part about winter camping' hardly any bugs. Plus I bring my dogs, they wouldn't do well without a tent, they'd be up all night barking at all the animals.

Just got back from my canyoneering trip, it was fantastic! I slept like a baby in my hammock under the stars last night. Both of the canyons we dod were "technical" with several rappels and pools. I skipped thesswimming entirely on the first canyon by doing some sketchy down climbs. On the second canyon I got my wetsuit on and rapped right into the water and swam the pools :D

Any recommendations for a two person air mattress/sleeping pad? Vehicle camping so it doesn't need to be light or compact. Just something durable enough for tent use.

I've used a futon mattress before, it was better than just a sleeping bag alone.
