    Google says they're reliable guns.

BUT, if you're carrying in a cargo pocket why wouldn't your G27 work/what would make a single stack better there? You wearing girl cargos?

plus I think it'll be easier to fully grasp and draw from a cargo pocket if it's a bit smaller

held a Glock 42 again today...wish it was a .40...because then I wouldn't have to requalify with it...hence the stringent requirements

I've stayed out of this conversation largely because he said .40 is not debatable. I'll keep my opinions on that round for self defense, especially in a small frame firearm, to myself.

trying to avoid calibers other than .40

policy for me is that if the gun functions the same, and is of the same caliber as duty weapon...i don't have to qualify with it separately

backup/off duty quals are done with personal ammo/time

G27 is still obviously the best option based on several factors...i was just hoping there was another viable option out there. I held a couple Kahrs today...felt ok in the hand, but not sure the size difference is worth spending another $500-$600 on a gun

I'll probably stick with my 27 for now and down the road purchase and qual with a G42 because that is the size/shape/function I'm after...if only Glock would pull their heads out of their collective asses and realize people are after these slim subcompacts right now

Judging by my tired eyes, it wouldn't be THAT difficult to adjust the G42 frame size to accommodate 9mm and 40

I have my own opinions on the caliber as well...but as I posted above...sticking with .40 makes it easier on me to carry within policy

law trumps policy of course, and legally I can carry any pistol I choose...but I like having the backing of departmental policy to go with it

add in the fact that my ammo stash is largely .40 for pistols because it's what I shoot most often...

You're right. I assumed they weren't replaceable, but it looks like they are.

You don't want to shove any semi-auto into a chest. Contact can cause most to come out of battery. Sounds like you want a j-frame.

no I know that...I was more just emphasizing a point...I realize that any sort of pressure back against the barrel/nose can cause issues

I have a smith 442...I tried carrying it in my cargo pocket, but it doesn't ride well especially in my car

Right on - different strokes. I carry a 637 every day in my pocket. It's in there as I type this. Bought a S&W M&P 9c today, but I think it's a little too big for pocket carry, except for maybe khakis/cargos.

I'm of the opinion there is a time and place for almost every gun out there...there's a reason I own a j frame

it's just not what's right for this instance

From what I can tell, while the few options out there are nice...none will provide significant size/weight difference to the G27 which is what I'm after while still retaining the no external safety and .40

I'll likely just stick to the G27 for awhile for this purpose unless some magical gun appears

I'm hoping I can get this other revolver sold before too long so I can have money to spend on a new gun should the right one show up

Speaking of J frames - what pocket holster are you guys using? I've had my uncle mikes for probably 8 years now and it's finally wearing out. I want one that will basically just cover the gun up to the trigger guard. I don't like the giant ones I'm seeing on the shelves that make it look like you have an original gameboy stuffed in there. Here's my current one - see how it's starting to fold away and expose the trigger? Not good.

I have an uncle mikes like yours and I have a sticky holster for my G27...for $25 the sticky holster is a good option

Jeff the rumor mill is saying Glock will be coming out with a 42 sized in more popular calibers (ie 9 and 40) "soon." whatever that means.

Just get a S&W 460VXR and throw a tactical cane disguiser on the rail.

It's internet rumors. Nothing confirmed from Glock.
