I just tried to install my All Pro Sliders in my 2004 Gen 1 and they don't seem to fit correctly. With the flanges flush to the frame, both vertically and horizontally, the sliders touch to the pinch weld under the cab. In order to get the flanges flush with the frame vertically and give a 1/4" gap between the sliders and pinch weld, the flange hangs down nearly 1/4" leaving the bottom mounting holes lined up with the bottom of the frame.

I'm left with either bolting them on flush to the frame but hitting the pinch welds or welding them on and leave the flanges hanging below the frame.

I spoke with Kurtis from All Pro. He said that they sometimes will hit the pinch weld and to knock the pinch welds flat for clearance. I also found that as I was bolting these on, there is nearly a 3/4" gap between the rear flange and frame.

Brute force wins again with a little help with an impact wrench. Complete with "high quality" cell phone pic

Well, at least you can say they look good! I hope they perform well, too! I'm having a local shop weld mine on as we speak.

My pinch weld are flat after the sliders flexed a little. So smashing the pinch welds to clear the sliders is the way to go.

Mine just touch the pinch seam and I had to squeeze the sliders to the frame with a c-clamp. But I welded mine I am not a fan of those self tapping bolts they seem to work loose after a while.

I'll weld them later but the bolts work for now.

FWIW my BAMF sliders were about 1/4" from the pinch weld once installed.

After my first wheeling trip, the pinch weld got smashed from flexing. Self-clearing mode :)

I hate having an ephinany when I'm half way through a project.

There isn't enough room to drill a pilot hole then it dawned on me, right angle drill. If this would have dawned on me a few hours ago, it would have saved me a ton of time and headaches.

It dident dawn on me when I posed that you are the same guy from the NSW forum. Diden't mean to double post to you. Right angle drill will be the way to go.

No problem. I'm horrible with names and remembering conversations is only marginally better.

Learn from my mistakes and get a right angle drill if you are bolting sliders on. If you don't have one and/or don't want to spend $100+ on one, get something like shown in the pic for less than $20. Its a right angle adapter that fits on any drill.

Holy heck life just got easier using this thing. It fits perfectly between the frame, sliders and pinch weld giving you access to all of the mounting holes. I would have been done yesterday with zero screw ups if I had used this thing.

quick question, it might be different because of the fully boxed frame but it was my understanding that your not supposed to weld up and down on a frame but only front to back because of structural strength? about to install these sliders on my toyota and not sure.

^If you are going to weld, weld around the entire perimeter of the flange. Otherwise you risk breaking off the slider when the truck's weight is on it. It's a bigger risk than weakening the frame.

Interestingly, with 2nd gen sliders here , All-Pro even has in writing:

I am not too worried about the frame being weaker in that spot. I am sure the frame is plenty strong even with the slight heat effected zone that runs up and down the frame tube in that spot. You should see all the welding I did on the frame to weld up the new cross member for the SAS and the new frame I built up front.

    OP,
I also had fit issues with my all pro bolt on sliders. I had the gap at the rear like you and also the predrilled holes didn't align with the frame holes. Also the holes for the bolts on the bottom of the frame were off a bit as well. Good luck with yours.

gotta keep the new Epoxy floor nice at least for a little while :). Its a welding blanket. Keeps me from making little burn marks in the floor. :)
