Jon's going for KOH...I'm going for Baja1000...best of both worlds.

 

I think I realized i may not go as balls out as I thought. When i graduate I want to move, get settled financially, have an emergency fund, prepare down payments ect...and into now there are regular life expenses that come up and I will want other toys too. So I can't just dump all this coin in my truck right out of school

 

Not me. Only thing other then camera and audio gear...truck. Race..truck.

And a second rig for longer trips.

 

I'd build a race car with you. Lets be roomies in Seattle haha

 

Have you thought of karting ben? Everyone I know that does it seriously has a ton of fun and pretty cheaply too when you compare it to cars... tough part would be tracks and people around you.

 

I got it used off ebay for around $250. Had it almost ten years without any issues. It's done every inch of weld on my truck and built several bumpers and sets of sliders too. It would be hard to find a more capable welder for under $2000, and then you couldn't take it on the trail. It does aluminum too.

 

They do that in Powell man! My dad Tim and I all looked into doing it briefly.

He's right. It would be hard to find any professional chassis builder that doesn't use TIG for tubing fabrication. On the flip side, it would be hard to find any production welder that isn't a MIG. TIG is slow, but precise. MIG is faster, more economical, and requires far less training to produce a strong weld.

No but it's way more Convenience...wins. TIG is a bitch and you gotta be setup right. Mig. Grab gun and go.

 

WOW, are they proud of that thing. Would be much better if it were a coupe.
