A 2wd v10 is going to get better gas than a 4wd, especially lifted with tires like that. 10-12 would be doing good for that truck with a v10. Get a 7.3 or a 5.9 cummins. Powerstrokes newer than 2003 are junk (sorry if I offend anyone :anonymous:). A duramax seems to be good from the guys I know, but most of theirs are built as shit. Built a 95 12valve with a buddy of mine and did the p-pumps, nv4500 swap, custom clutch, turbo, ect.. Such a fun truck but a real pain to do a lot of the work. But the diesel market isn't a very good market to get into unless you have some extra cash to spend.

As for the the gas trucks, I'd take a 460 over a v10 all day. Reliability wise, there arent any complaints about either. I had a 94' F-250 4x4 with a 460 5speed and 4.56 gears and 35" sport kings. It looked like hell but it would keep up with the 7.3's and 6.4's that I've pulled all day long. I got 10-14 regular driving but when my foot got heavy, which it did a lot, I got more around 6-8.

So I don't think I'm gonna use this trans shop anymore. My fluid seems a little low. Driving it home and checking the dipstick it's just below the hot section of the dipstick, and the mouting of the cooler I'm not that pleased with. They put in in front of the a/c condenser in the front of the skid plate. So the lines stick out of the bottom a little. Don't like that for off-roading. I'll get a pic up soon

But on a plus side my trans seems to shift a lot smoother! Can barely feel the shifts!

Have you ever considered a trans cooler with a fan? i know ive got the factory tow package but as far as i can see i only have an engine oil cooler, not a trans oil.

I think the tow package has both. I know it's supposed to have the trans cooler. My install I guess isn't that bad. With some zip tie work I got the hoses in a ok spot. I didn't want a fan, I can't/don't tow anything that heavy. And I just double checked my fluid now that it's cold and it hasn't moved on the dipstick. Guess it just wasn't hot enough when I checked it

I wasn't thinking towing, most of the off-roading around me is slow speed rocks, so i was thinking a fan on my engine oil and my trans cooler, possibly an e-fan on the radiator too, as im a bit worried that slow speeds with high loads will cause some heat issues

Edit: i do have a trans cooler, its some lines run through the radiator, id rather have a stand alone one for redundancy like you have now.

That's what all trucks have. Mine goes through the radiator and then to the cooler now

Here's what they did for my cooler. I added the zip ties to tuck the lines up a little more

Yeah the v10 would be so quick and easy to drop the gas down the drain with haha you didn't offend me hahah I like the 7.3 and 5.9. I could never let myself get 6-8 unless it was seriously fun hahahah
