Damn, I bet you hit the culvert. Good luck getting everything back together, I would probably freak if I had that much water in my footwell!

That's exactly what I'm going to do: run it till I'm out and see where I'm at. And I though about that, if I have to pull the bed to replace it anyways, couldn't I just pull the fuel pump out and smash it back down? Otherwise I'm in the market for a junk-yard fuel tank. Can't imagine they're too expensive.

You think I didn't freak out? Took that pic while my brother was pulling the winch line. In fact, there was more water than that by the time I was done. Look at other pic and check out where the water is in comparison to my fender flare.

And I thought about the culvert, but the thing is, the main culvert is 25 yards up the road, this just is where the creek happened to cross. But I guess there could be a secondary one there, and I could have fallen off it. I drove though it once already, and the water was barley up to the sliders, then this on the way back through....

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
You are talking about the colvert that use to be a foot deep ditch like 4 years ago right?

If you end up needing to pull the bed give me a shout and i am sure i can find the time to head up there.

I don't remember off the top of my head. Haven't driven that road enough, but next time you're up lets take your truck out there and investigate.

Bent the mount back into shape, and new carrier bearing installed:

Have a dozen or so miles on it and everything seems really good. In fact, it seems smoother than ever.

Also grabbed the first flat thing I could find and took this pic of the gas tank:

    Nice job on the CB.

I bet you can push that tank out. That dent should pop pretty easy.

It was actually a pretty easy job. The old carrier bearing basically fell off. I'll have to grab some pics of it.

Ya that would be fun. I will be in Walden this weekend. I might shoot up to steamboat for a few hours though. That is a nice dent in the tank though.

Greased all the Ujoints when the shaft was out. Realized tonight that I forgot the one on the shaft itself. Crawed under to see that I took off the zerk too:

    Welp...

Gas gauge has been stuck at 5/8 of a tank for the last week. Got 250 miles on this tank. So, I think that's the final nail in the coffin for this tank.

I've got a lead on a replacement, just need to figure out what all I need in terms of sender unit, pump, gauge level thingy, it's not something I know much about.

Took a break from school work to see if the water had dropped enough to see what the hell I hit. And it did, probably 18"-24" down from where it was 2 weeks ago.

I certainly left my mark on that culvert. From looking at it now, the front fell off into the deeper creek spot. And in the process of backing up I got the rear to fall down too. And before anyone calls me an idiot, the opposite side of the road is all washed out too, which is what I was trying to avoid when I found my new favorite culvert.

That don't look bad at all...:p
Kidding aside that corrugated pipe is some strong stuff with a sharp edge, it was fortunate you didn't lose a tire or shred a brake line although the resulting damage was certainly expensive enough.

Where did you find a tree close enough to winch from?

I found this pic of the sending unit, I think it's correct. I was curious about the float assembly, I wonder if yours is just wedged in place. Might still be worth the time to pull the sending unit and try to push the dent out.

It was nice to get back out wheeling again. First trip of the season and it was a good one! Still way too much snow around here.

Now I have to get this thing ready for Moab, don't know if I'll be able to finish everything I want to. :goingcrazy:

    My condolences Brett.

Your bumper sailed away in a Western Disposal truck, the other day.
