Has anyone in this thread done the led cluster swap on their 2nd gen

How difficult is it? I assume that you just take out the cluster and replace all the bulbs with LEDs right?

 

yeah its annoying, you need to use PLCC-2 LEDs which are about the size of 1/5th of a penny. my limited had 45 LEDs. Took me about 4 hours. soldering gets annoying but I did it with a buddie's hakko which made it easier

 

oooohhhhhh.....not as easy as i thought lol. i am severly electrically challenged. was hoping it was just replacing the bulbs looks like i might have to send it out to that guy in cali to do it for me

 

i might be inclined to help out if i have some free time

 

That would be cool thinking of doing it sometime next month if u can beer and food will be available

 

Welp .... I started tinkering around until I got myself Deep into the heart of Tinkerville .... Friday after work I started prepping my Airflow snorkel for a Saturday morning install ... Couldn't stop prepping until I got the whole job done by sundown .... Roughly 5 hours .... Could do the next one in 3 , and the third in 2 .... But that was not an easy one .... So ... What to do on Saturday now ... Odds and ends to fine tune the snorkel install , then prep the bumper for a next Saturday install of which Fifthwind offered a helping hand ( thank you very much Murph ! ) prep , prep , prep .... Dam all I gotta do is lift that winch and bumper up and I'm golden ! .... Haha ... I see my neighbor ... Don't tell him what we're doing , just ask for help lifting something .... The trap was set ... He helped me lift it on and now I got his attention diverted to leveling it out and correct fittment .... Wa-La .... 45 minutes later he's home and I'm getting into this Shit !! BOOM !! It's On !
Wired up the last led fog light as it began to rain ... Washed t he Tacoma and 2 VW's in the rain .... Showered me ... Ate some dogs topped with my famous sauce ... Now I'm waiting for dark to see those LED's .... Dam ?.. Sunday is free ... One more day in Tinkerville ?

Sounds like a good weekend so far. I started taking care of some rust spot on the frame then knocked out half the frame. If it wasn't for running out of paint id have more done

Yeah it was one of those deals. I was just using what I had from other projects but apparently I was motivated. Its looking good though so no complaints here
