If you bought that light for home defense, it will do the job, no need for 100 Lumens in the home.

    You did just fine.

I got the same stock, but FDE, for $135 at the last gun show I went to. What scope and mount do you have on it? I just got my first scope ever, but that was for my savage 17. I really want to get one for the mosin now.

I got the brass stacker mount and aim sports 2-7X42 30mm Scout Scope. I can still use the iron sights since the brass stacker mount sits above them.

That's actually why I'm hesitant to do so but I do really like shooting mine. To make matters worse, I also bought a Timney trigger for mine also

My justification is it's cheaper than throwing a $150 on a $800 rifle lol

But it's still a Mosin. At least with an $800 rifle you're starting with a better platform to begin with. If you're going to buy a Mosin just buy a Mosin because it's a Mosin and not because you can make it into something it's not. That's just IMO of course.

And on that note, I just ordered up a desert tan stock. $140 shipped, not too bad. Figure if I don't like it, I could always sell it off for what or close to what I paid as long as I keep it in good shape.

I agree with you actually. I'm doing it just because it's a hobby gun. I have no illusions of it being a top shooter. The removable magazine is a nice feature, so is it being already inlet for the Timney trigger so I don't have to mess with my original stock.

It's like buying a trophy truck vs buying a Tacoma then upgrading it to race. It'll never be a trophy truck, I am still spending a shit load of money, but at the end of the day, it's built, not bought, and a shit ton of fun. IMO :D

We put 15000 dollars in suspension and tube work on $5000 trucks.

$1500 on optics for $800 dollar rifles.

    $500 optics on $400 pistols

Or hell 300 bucks in gear to go out to the desert to pretend I'm poor and homeless

I rather spend the extra $$ on a hooker. They'll do whatever I want vs the free girls from the clubs.
