ill give you the gearing i cant ever denie that. It's true little 4 bangers take 42's over some big ass rocks all the time but if you are doing a motor swap there is another true rule to think about there is no replacement for displacement.

A 2j can get some serious horse power but the torque you want at lower rpms just isnt there. I had a 7mge swapped 94 it did great but it wasnt a vortec V8.

it's not a replacement i can put boost on a bigger motor and get way more power that's why there are 502 caddy motors that are only pushing 6lb of boost putting down 2100 horse.

Pounds per square inch has nothing to do with power. Has to do with turbo size. Doesn't have to do with it's a 502. Has to do with the fact it's probably an 88mm included wheel or bigger

 

Forgive me Jesus i forget you know eveything about boost cuz you own two boosted trucks. you guys have very little experiance in half the shit that falls out of your mouths and yet you argue it cuz the idea is cool look at trends and what other people that have dumped hundreds of thousands on this shit. Do they run the baby motor and build as much power out of it to push giant tires or do they get the big boy parts?

 

Totally agree with you konsta. The low end torque out of a v8 is way more economical and tons more practical with a crawler then a straight six with a snail on it.

My vote is the 8 blown or not hands down.

 

...I have owned a supra..I know how boost works thank you very much and how the efficiency of a turbo works. Psi is a totally relative term. Figure you would know that..appears not.

Low end torque is great and yes bigger displacement is the winner for that. But if ou have a crawl ratio of 150:1 or higher....isn't that important. A stock 22re will take just as far as a big block 502 at that ratio. Which is what we are saying.

Obviously your missing the point that Ben is getting at for building a jeep.

i didnt argue the gearing being more important than motor size. also saying that PSI is relative term well yeah that's why i used it as an example .
What i said is if youre going to all that work then might as well just start with big boy parts and not have to add shit to your swap to get more power. though i dont know what im doing giving advice to a guy that wants to build a jeep cuz there is more bolt on support for it and then says ill do a motor swap. but yeah i will never understand you two.

 

if you want to run 42s with dual rate coil overs you will be doing 2 sas's anyway.
just seems like an unnecessary amount of work and expense. But i suppose the troll level would be off the charts. so kudos for that.

yeah though the diesel world is starting to kill it. should look into some of the diesel crawlers people have been building heavy but damn do they work good.
