Ummm, no. Reference Paul. I've tried to follow his mild xj... Worked for a bit and then, he started trying.

I wheel with several every weekend and out wheel them a lot.. Don't forget I'm in a straight axle Toyota not a Tacoma.

And I have had them out wheel me several times, but they had at least one locker. Open/open with good tires and there's not a lot of difference

He has a stock '81 pickup. Solid axle up front, I think he could stick with a lifted open/open xj. Paul is locked in the front and you have ifs with no locker. Paul has a little more travel than we all do. It's a jeep thing that they will only understand! :D

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
    Hah thanks for the reference.

They aren't trying hard enough haha. Not saying you aren't as capable, just saying a Cherokee on 33s with the right gear and big enough balls will amaze you.

And trust me, a d30 is a pretty strong little axle for its size. I've seen people giving them hell on 37s (search YouTube for Dana 30 beat down. My buddy swears by his). I'm not afraid to smoke em to warm up the rocks a bit. You just gotta know when the axle starts hopping, it's time to ease up.

Wheel with him at a park a few more times and you will see what I'm talking about. He made me very humble the last time I went with him.

Yeah I wasn't questioning Jeeps capability. Especially with good suspension and lockers. But stick someone with balls in a solid axle Yota and they'll surprise you too because I've been surprised at the stuff I've made it up several times and I know my friends in Jeeps have been surprised at what they made it up. There are pros and cons to each setup.

And I'll smoke the living hell out of my tires! Lol I expect these to be gone within a year.

Speaking of wheeling at a park and while Paul is on the forum. Let's set something up to go to Stoney.

I'd be interested in a heuristic analysis of the gear:balls ratio, where plotted on a decreasing slope, it crosses the "You'll fuck your shit up" axis, and ends in disaster.

Yes please! I wanna wheel with a big group of Toyotas badly........and that one guy in a Cherokee :p

Sorry for clouding this thread with arguing about pointless vehicle capability. Back to mods and meets.

Speaking of.. 4LO and the rocks does not like 3.90s and 32" tires. It struggled in the big rock garden I ran last night, but it climbed those hills so easy. I used to sometime "slip" when going through big ruts and stuff, but last night I never spun a tire. I was very impressed. And they look so much better.

Stoney is a mixture of everything, mud, rocks, hills. I like staying away from as much mud as possible because it's a pita to clean after. Plus, hill climbs and rock climbs are challenging in stock 4runner with a leveling kit! :D

Sounds good about like Morris and Choccolocco..

Someone set a date and ill be there.

Should I regear my t-case or axles first? It's fine on the street but playing it the rocks is gonna burn my clutch up quick.

Nah, use 4-lo until you can regear. Unless you can regear and have everything ready before we go! I am looking at a month from now. But no set date et
