does anyone else have this problem, i can use 4 high fine and can get up most hill climbs with it but i've never been able to use 4low, the damn thing just beeps at me the whole time and never clicks in so i put it back to 4 high and yes i've read the manual for it. It just never clicks in.

If you have a manual trans, you must push the clutch in all the way to the floor and have the trans in nuetral.

I only tried to get mine in when I first got it and it worked fine. Had it in neutral then clicked it from 4HI to 4LO. Took a few seconds but it got in fine then.

Double check it in neutral and light wheel turns right and left...They can be tight/hard to engage at the start for some folks. I've never had any problems with mine.

Even with my automatic, i completely stop , put it in neutral, then go from 4 hi to 4low. if it doesnt seem to catch, throw it in reverse usually works. do the same thing to go back to 4hi again.

I do this on the first of every month on a straight street. put it in 4 hi, drive alittle, stop, put in 4 low, drive alittle, and back again. keeps everything lubed and you'll get used to how it reacts.

In manual trans. Tacomas, you have to make sure that the clutch is fully depressed to engage/disengage the transfer case. The clutch start switch must be contacted before the 4x4 ecu will try to engage the transfer case.

.... unfortunately I have an auto.... and could not solve my problem.

Truck would go in and out of 4hi fine, but took a while to get into 4lo. And now it is stuck in 4lo. Swapped the actuator and 4x4 ecu from another truck and it still didn't come out.

It is currently being evaluated at my mechanics. The actuator arm won't budge. Ballz.

I had nothing but problems trying to get that piece of shit engineering marvel 4Lo to engage and then disengage once it finally did.

Here is a trick that worked most of the time before I took it in and the Dumb ass dealer which has managed to get it up to about a 50% success/failure rate.

Clutch all the way to the floor > Turn piece of shit knob to 4Hi then drive a short distance to verify it is in 4Hi > Stop and push clutch all the way to the floor and turn piece of shit knob to 4Lo > Let out clutch and if the piece of shit system is beeping at you, drive a few feet then turn the truck off and pour a cup of coffee, after several minutes restart the truck and you have a chance that it's no longer beeping, if it is still beeping, repeat above steps and try not to dwell on the dumb ass decision you made when you traded in a perfect working Toyota on a new truck.

yeah thanks for all the advice, the longest i've waited for it to click in was 2 minutes, just parked there in neutral and i got sick of the beeping so i said f it, i'm at work right now so i can't try the reverse thing but i'll definitely keep that in the bean. I'm kinda skeptical now if i even want to attempt to click it into 4LO cause i don't need it right now so why play with it. I'd imagine if it's having this much trouble clicking in it might have that much trouble clicking out which would be no bueno

Mine almost never shifts into 4LO on the fist try, but I usually just pull forward a bit and try again. Doesn't usually take more than twice.
