Lol I can't even get him to fix any of our 5 broken skill saws

I would just drop the saws off at the lumber supplier where your boss has his account and get them sent in to be repaired

 

He uses this discount lumber yard. The material is shit and looks like it's been sitting in a swamp. They don't deal with anything but wood and typar.

He does use a tool retailer/repair shop but they are useless. Every time I get him to send something in they send it back saying nothing is wrong but it still doesn't work. I've given up asking him to repair things.

That or it rolls around in the back of his truck for three weeks and he forgets why it's there. Ends up putting it back in my trailer until I try to use it again lol

 

That sounds like a plan to me.

I'm at my end of dealing with him. I thought he was a good guy but I don't know anymore. Finally told him the other day I want a raise. He's been talking about giving me more money for awhile now, doing profit sharing, company truck etc but I haven't saw anything yet.

I never even got a raise when I got my red seal ticket and the only raise I got was because I took over as foreman and the labourer was making $1/hr less then me

 

Can't afford the shipping.

sounds like you should be looking for a new employer; he doesn't sound like he cares much about you and equipping you properly.

I missed out on an awesome job offer two weeks ago. Custom home builder, 25 mins away from home, doing basically the same thing I am doing now but the guy needed someone asap and I wouldn't feel right living my boss high and dry like that

 

I even mentioned that I'm concerned about the state of our tools if a safety inspector ever comes on site. I'll be screwed

 

hmmm ... Does he know about the other job offer and that you passed out of integrity? If not, maybe you should let him know you're not happy and looking for something better. If nothing changes, I wouldn't pass on the next opportunity.

But I don't know anything about the construction industry hiring practices or etiquette.

 

I am sort of lost as well Rob. Sounds like a union shop without the union.
