Okay, based on the SO paperwork for my truck

    Code:

                                    Invoice MSRP
    Base price 24,996 27,885
    Factory Options 9,150 10,625
LIO (locally installed ops) 529.23 628
    (can't read line) 850 0
    delivery 925 925
    vehicle holdback 783 0
    dealer holdback 77.36 0
    special reserve MSRP 392 0
    Total 37,702.59 40,093.00

    2014 Tacoma DCSB TXproBAJA

BY - TRD TX BAJA - no graphics
CW - TRD TX Baja Credit
EN - Entune Premium with JBL/NAV
    FE - 50 state emissions
OF - TRD Off road package for baja series
    PF - Paint protection filk
    S6 - Premium Security System
F1 - VIP sales follow up
I2 - POS with Texas state inspection
    G1 - Vehicle Fueling 4 gallons

I added to that the TRD SC which doesn't have a code because it's not supposed to be installed predelivery ;)

I'm embarassed to add up what I spent on it ;)

Total out the door close to 43 with the SC installed.

The one thing to stress here is that if you look at my truck, even COMPLETELY loaded with every stupid option there just isn't a LOT of markup, if you are getting $2000+ off that's a pretty good deal. My dealer went a hair over invoice for me because it was an ordered truck, didn't have to sit in their lot, and I commited to doing the SC and everything through them, and I was a cash buyer - basically it cost them nothing other than a few minutes of their time and they got to book the SC and labor for the install. The also obviously kept the dealer holdback - I've seen some dealers be willign to cut into the holdback profit but not on a car that doesn't sit on their lot for more than a week... All in all I think I got a pretty stellar deal, I might have been able to chop it down a few more bucks but you have to let them make some money or they aren't going to want to help you much ;)

    -Zach

Edit: Not sure if this is allowed, but I just talked to my buddy @ toyota, he says if anyone wants a 2014 tacoma and hears about it through this forum he'll do 2% over invoice on ANY tacoma either in stock or ordered - Obviously this benefits Texans more than others but might still be worth your time. If you're interested or need a no BS dealer PM me. He also says they'll do the new Pro 2015 trucks (tundra and 4 runner as well) at MSRP with no markups. He did also say he'd deliver to your house with in 300 miles.

Not on that, why buy used... When I was looking, I was PERFECTLY willing to start with a used tacoma, but the fact is TRD OR trucks even used with 20k miles were getting near 30k$, a brand new one could be had for similar prices.

I ended up going WAY WAY overboard on my new truck, but the initial decision was a used 2012 or a new 2014, and the price was so close I couldn't justify only saving a few K for a used vehicle.

Because my company gives me a car allowance, and I buy a new car about every 3 years anyway. When my last Tacoma's lease was just about up I sold it private party for more then the residual was.

If you plan to keep your Tacoma for more than 3 years than a lease is not for you in my opinion.

I have been told by multiple insurance adjusters; that the Tacoma has the highest resale value of any truck and most cars on the road. I totaled my 1999 pre runner, it was 9 years old, had 199,000 miles on it. They gave me $8500 for it in 2008.that sas ALOT about the Tacoma!!!

    2014 TRD DCLB
    Dealer: Toyota of Keene NH
    MSRP: $33,900
sale price for the truck, last day of the month: $31,830
Does not include CT sales tax, reg and dealer fee (those all vary by state/dealer).

    2014 Tacoma TRD Sport
    Double Cab
    4x4
    Long Bed
    Etune
    Pyrite Mica

This was only 1/3 trucks in the Northeast. It was tough to find the Mica in Long bed TRD. I was very frustrated that Toyota does not make any TRD Off Road in long bed; as I wanted the locking diff but can't get it in long bed.

I had this same deal at another dealer but they didn't have the truck on the lot. My advice for buyers is to check the doc fee at each dealer. Here in the New England they ranged from $275-$429. Since I bought out of state and still have to go to the DMV I question the value of the dealer fee.

Seems to be a good compromise of family hauler and utilitarian truck like qualities.

I started negotiations with the USAA Buying Service price (3 dealerships around Columbia, SC participate with USAA but this one usually has the lower initial price). The buying process took a week. I stopped the negotiations four times because I didn't need the truck right then. The dealer had to go out of state (to GA) to find the truck, by the way. It came with the OEM roof rack and Predator step bars (the roof rack has grown on me but I plan to replace the step bars with sliders). I refused to budge from our agreed upon price. I told the sales rep that I was okay if he didn't want the sale. Turns out he did.
