Can you be more specific? Which aspect of the seat is uncomfortable? Not enough thigh support? Too much thigh support? Not enough lumbar support? Not enough lateral support for cornering?

My seat adjustment method in the Taco:
    1. Lumbar cranked to full.
    2. Telescope steering wheel all way toward me.
    3. Lower steering wheel angle until there's just one thumb's thickness between the wheel and my legs.
    4. Adjust recline until comfortable. I tend to lay it back (think F-16 fighter).
    5. Adjust seat fore-aft until, with my arms straight, my wrists rest directly on top of the steering wheel rim.

The popular Wet Okoles seat covers add a thin layer of foam, so the seats are slightly softer to the touch.

Great writeup. With nothing to lose, I will try your method. My problem seems to be the angle of the bottom in conjunction with too much thigh support. Thanks for the ideas.

more than likely you will have to replace the seat the seat is made to hold you in place when you're out there 4 wheeling, either that or maybe you're used to American seats.

Why don't you add a small cushion to level out the seat? They sell specialized cushions just for this purpose. There's even a cutout to avoid compressing the tailbone:

    Some stuff...
My (TRD) seats are very comfortable, but they do have some quality control issues (seats wrinkling, other threads out there about this).

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
Great advice here OP. Don't forget to adjust your steering wheel, the problems could be starting and generating with how your arms are, then generating down causing discomfort.

Ok....what in the world is the difference between the TRD seat and an SR5 seat? I don't think I felt any real difference when I was looking at buying. Also, I love my SR5 seats. Light years better than my '05 Wranglers seats.

TRD Sport... I don't like the seats either. Short trips, fine. Over an hour and they get uncomfortable for me.

I love my trd seats. I do drive a 07. My father in law doesn't like them because of the angle the legs sit at. He says it's like driving his volkswagon jetta.

I have a TRD Sport and am very comfortable. I will say that it would be awesome to have at least a power drivers seat. Especially when you are in the 30k range. 4runner has power seats. Go find a pair out of a wrecked newer model 4runner with power. Might possibly just bolt right in. Cheaper than selling a truck you like.

No problems with my seats either. The first few days of ownership it felt a little different, since then they are fine. My 2003 Tacoma has a softer cushion, more plush feel.

Didn't drive it before you bought it? You should have the same holds true for shoes and girls. Try them out first. ;)

    A little a this, a little a that...
I'm same height and weight. Same seats. Work great for me. You should try the first gen seats!

You can go with aftermarket bucket seats. Expect to do some fabricating on the seat brackets.

Seats are a personal issue. Hate my 2013 TRD Sport seats. Cannot believe there is no manual seat height adjustment for the front end of the seat. Around town they are ok, my problem occurs after a couple of hours of driving. Don't think I've ever had a test drive for a couple of hours.

I get back ache on my TRD seats after 2-3 hours.

    I'm 5'11 and 170.

Seats are very subjective and require a long test drive to fully find if they fit you well.

I lucked out and was about to do about a 9 hour test drive in a 2013 Tacoma... It's what solidified my choice on a Taco.

Oh, and I'm 5'11", two hundred flemeleishsllsjjj pounds... I'm big. We'll just leave it at that. Haha

If only a 5 day test drive would be allowed! My backache occurred three days into ownership, roughly three hundred miles of driving. What a someabitch!

I guess it's just preference because I'm 6' 175 and I love my seats. They're still firm (truck is 3 months old) and I like the TRD material. I came from a car with black leather, so the grey sport fabric really beats the heat. I find that putting my seat back more upright (less gangster lean) helps my back.
