2.7 L bulletproof?

    2009 4wd 2.7L Regular Cab
    Dumped exhaust, 35 % factory tint, kobalt slim line toolbox, afe pro dry, toyota all weather mats, fog lights soon.
    I have been seeing these threads that state that the 2.7 L engine from Toyota is "bullet-proof" I know Toyota builds a damn good engine and that’s why I bought it but my question is:

    what specifically about the 2.7 L Toyota engine make it last so long as opposed to other brands engines?

    All I know is that I beat the shit outta mine. Regularly holding it against the rev limiter, while under 7 psi boost....never an issue.

    Chris I think you need to consider going to one of those doctors that help you with you mind because I think you are crazy, but I really can't say shit becuase I would prob be the same way if I lived in AZ not this stupid Republic of Kali..     Color matched door handles, Weathertech floor liners, bed mat, Durafit seat covers, tailgate clamp, 2016 TRD Sport 17" wheels with Yokohama Geolander AT tires , Toyota exhaust tip, Toyota/Yakima bike rail mount, Toyota wheel locks, Toyota hitch cover, Redline hood struts, unifilter on air pump.
    IMO Toyota and Honda have refined their 4 cyl engines over decades of continuous improvement. Kind of like BMW with their inline 6 and GM with their pushrod V8. I trust my 2.7 completely and believe it will never let me down. It's the main reason I bought a Tacoma. Trust me, I could have spent way less on a Colorado (I work at a Chevy dealer), but it was never even an option in my mind.

    I think the main reason the Toyota I4’s are considered bombproof is that they are under tuned. So even if you are red lining the engine daily you are not going to break it.

    If you look up the current I4 you find these engines used in third world commercial applications where they take a lot of abuse in taxis and small delivery trucks.

    oh haha my bad but still thats nice that they do 7psi on a dd. my tc did 8psi dd but kind of a different animal lol

    Is the 2.7 based off of the all-mighty 2.4 (22-RE) engine another bulletproof (yet under powered) engine.

    I heard it was more like the 3.0 diesel over seas....I never confirmed it though.

    "the 2.7L" is kinda vague.

    3RZ-FE = First Gen: 150 hp, 177 ft·lbf
    2TR-FE = Second Gen: 159 hp, 180 lbf·ft

    From digging around, It looks like the 2.7 is just a stroked version of the 2.4, and with twin ballance shafts......

    Those balance shafts really help. The 2.7 idles very smooth.
