why do we get the gas mileage of a full size pickup?

I get 22 mpg pullin a trailer with a 4 wheeler on it. I dont think thats half bad. v6 6 spd

 

Someone needs to check your math skills. I'm not buying 22MPG with anything in tow. I have just disposed of a 2005 witha 6 speed and just purchased a 2009 with a 6 speed. the '05 woudl approach 20MPG empty and the '09 will approach 19 empty. I find it hard to belive that yours seems to get over 10% better than the empty average while towing.

 

yeah, if i get over 250 a tank thats a good day for me

 

I got 19mpg with just an ATV in the bed on the highway from Maryland to Maine this summer, 4x4 2.7l FTL.

 

I'm quite pleased with the mileage. Much better then my f150. It is still a truck after all. If I were that concerned I'd just buy a Prius, lol

You dont have to buy anything. Its a homemade trailer that weighs next to nothing with a 250 fourwheeler. And a large portion downhill through the tennessee valley. I'm sure the way back home woulda been worse because the majority woulda been uphill. I wouldnt say someone needs to check my math skills. I'd say you should hold off waving your BS flag unless you know all the variables.

 

yeah seriously, reason I got the 4cyl was the "4cyl gas mileage" so now the thing can get out of its own way but still gets the mileage of the v6. When is the damn trd super charger coming out for this thing?

Your statement exactly was "I get 22 MPG" which would indicate that this is a regular occurrence. Hell I could probably get 50MPG once is I coasted down grapevine but that wouldn't be an accurate dipiction of what is actually happening on a regular basis. So yes, I will call BS on the statement as you had it written.

 

when my truck was stock i got around 20 mpg, i was pretty happy with that number. but since my bigger/heavier tires its gone down a few mpgs

 

I get 18-19 with mostly in the city driving. On a recent trip to Seattle and back I got 21-23 MPG. I am happy

 

My running average with mixed driving is right about 20 MPG thus far. My only pure highway tank was 22 MPG. Towing my 16 foot boat on the highway (roughly 1,600 pounds), I've returned 17.5 MPG.

My mileage is roughly 20% better than my old truck, an Extra Cab F-150 V8 Auto 4x4. Suffice to say I have NO PROBLEM with my current mileage

 

I get between 15.5 and 16 but I've got 35's

 

I get right around 300miles per tank with 3" lift and 33s

 

x2...statement should have read, "I once got 22 miles per gallon downhill with a tailwind."

 

my best is 24 mpg, road trip. average 20 to 21. v6. keep it below 2k rpm -excluding highway driving and mileage will go up and you will actually be able to see more stuff in your driving environment

 

I live in the city, and drive mostly in the city. I usually get about 17-18 mpg. The only highway trips I've taken I got about 20. I'm pretty happy with that. It would be nice if it was better, but I wouldn't call it the same as a full size unless you are talking about purely driving on the highway. My friends with full size trucks are only barely touching the teens if they really lay off it in the city, but some of them do get around 20 on the highway.
