What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Install wasn't too bad, took about 2-3 hrs. Everything was apart and off the truck in 1hr, but what took most of the time was pressing the new bushings/ sleeves in. I ended up using a C clamp to help. The toughest was the middle bushing and sleeve. For one the bushing barely fit in, I had to use sand paper to sand down the lip of the bushing so it would pop in. Then getting the metal sleeve to slide in was a pain in the rump! I ended up using the biggest drill bit I had to kinda eat away at the inside walls of the rubber bushing. After that it slid in perfectly and then I tightened everything back up and now the rack is firmly in its place


Wherever you buy from try to get the energy suspension bushings. I read these are the best ones for longevity.

 

After having power window motors and switches fail, I actually like my manual windows. Less to go wrong.

 

Makes it more interesting when hollerin at honeys on the side of the road.

 

I don't ever consider it super hot, really. It's usually like 85-90 but it's the humidity that kills. Originally from Rhode Island and it is even more humid up there. I love manual windows, my BMW had electric windows and broke every other week.

 

The humidity sucks! I went to Nebraska last summer and they were complaining about it being 95 and "hot"
OMG I would take 95 degrees and no humidity over mid 80's and humid. Their 95 felt like mid 70's here in Austin.

I lived in Tucson and went through a summer without AC when it busted in my XJ. 115 is f'ing hot, humidity or not.

Truck three a p0420 code on a drive last night. Cleared it and it came back today :/ not sure what it is but hopefully not too hard to fix.

Cat or 02 sensors.

 

Try the sensors first, if your gonna start replacing parts. I think it be best to spend about $100 and have a reputable shop diagnose what it is exactly. It's possible there is an underlying issue.
