help my squeaky leaf springs

try using the search button, a few topics on this. BUT if you pressure wash them and apply grease to them it will stop. One thread i read states exactly which grease to use.

 

pressure washer and a good all weather grease and you will be good to go

 

Buy a can of Silicone lubricant with teflon. Wedge a flat head screwdriver between the leaves near the end where the pads are (to separate the leaves a little) and spray the lubricant between the leaves where the contact pads are.

That should stop the squeaking for about 6 months...

 

Take it in to the dealer, there's a TSB on the squeaky rear leaf springs. I brought mine in last week and they fixed it. I'll try and find the TSB number for it, I know it's on the info they gave me. There are some type of pads between the leafs that need to be replaced. As long as you're still under 3 years you should be good.

 

Got my creak/squeak fixed yesterday......About two months ago I had a set of long AAL's installed at a local Springshop.Almost immediately they started creaking like a MoFo and it was driving me nuts.I had them lubed during my MVI and it went away for a couple of weeks but came back worse than ever.Yesterday I went back to the shop and they installed plastic isolators at no charge and she's back in stealth mode.

 

After I posted I went back to look if the truck year was listed. Yeah, 05 isn't covered. Do you know if you have to pay for a TSB after warranty is up? Is it worth going to the dealer or getting the plastic insulators like squad314 did?

 

squirt some chain lube for motorcycles in there,works good and sheds dirt.

 

the dealer (I already tried) is going to charge you $200 for some stupid silicone pads. If you can, takem apart and clean real well and relube with white lithium grease.

I would be willing to take some pics of what my shop did for me if anyone was interested........It doesn't look like rocket science,and if they didn't charge me for it,you can be assured it is cheap.

 

I would love to see some pics. I am having the same problem and would like an easy cheap fix to get rid of the annoying squeak.

If u unbolt ur shock and put a bottle jack between the leaves and frame, u can get really good separation of the leaves and get grease all the way to the ubolts practically.

 

Or just get the TSB isolators from Toyota

 

What year does that go back to?

 

They are larger isolator pads you can buy and put on your stock leafs , there is a link to them near the end of the DIY squeaky leaf fix thread
