LOL still crying about that? Wasn't that like 2 or 3 seasons ago? Was it even a playoff game?

As a sharks fan it was a shitty play and he should have been penalized for it.

Um there was a fair bit of crying over that incident, just look up a few posts you are still going on about it;)

I think it will be a good move for SJ if it happens. Thats what they really miss, guys who can eat a lot of mins against top lines. Once Vlasic was hurt their team collapsed instantly. Phaneuf played well the last few years with Gunnarsson (at best a 3-4 guy) so Im sure he would be better with someone who can actually play

It would kf course help Dion to have a stronger partner. It may help San Jose, but we will see what they give up to get him. I am not convinced Dion is a legit top 2 defenseman. Toronto will benefit from choosing a proper captain.

well i never once seen anything from him that showed he was a bad captain, I actually really like him on the team. Your letting the idiotic toronto fans and media cloud your thinking. They are idiots

    Perhaps.
I remember the first time I saw Phaneuf play. It was when the World Junior Championship tourney was being played in North Dakota. I watched a Finland-Canada tilt. Crosby was also on that team. Phaneuf impressed me more than any other player on the ice that day. I still think Phaneuf is a good player, but today I do not see a consistent enough player. He appears to take too many nights off. This is not a good quality for a captain imo.

He was one of the best defence in the east, if not the best shutdown guy until he hurt is shoulder with like 20 games to go. He was hit and fell on it, left the game for a bit and then missed every practice the rest of the season after that they kept saying for "maintenance". Up until then he was like +24 and still like 25 pts in 60 games while playing vs Crosby, OV, and other top lines. Thats pretty good IMO. As soon as the game he got hurt happened, the team totally imploded as well

Dmen are hard to value in today's NHL. Everyone wants the Karlsson, Letang, Green Dman that can move the puck and put up pts, but they aren't that great defensively. Lidstrom was that rare Dman that could put up pts while also being a wall. Looking at some of the contracts out there, its mind blowing what teams will pay for a D.

Yep. What Minnesota paid for Suter, but he is certainly attempting to earn his bucks for the organization. If they get past the Hawks, the management with be thrilled with their investment.
