Feeler: Fabricated Aluminum Bed Braces

I made these bed braces for the rear and I am just about done with some for the front of the bed. I'm wondering if these would be something other members would be interested in. I have templates made and the tools and material (6061-T6) to make more, so if I see some interest I'll fab some up for purchase. I was thinking between 50 & 60 for the pair with hardware. Looks pretty good, what are the advantages over stock? Guessing stronger? The stock hanged do kinda look weird with glass

 

yeah, probably a little stronger and a hair lighter, I guess the main thing is they look a lot better than the stock steel ones. I've gotten quite a few compliments on them, that's kind why I posted thread.

interesting, I have been meaning to make some new ones since I put my glassworks bedsides on, but from the pics these look like they are only for stock bedsides.

where does the bottom of the fiberglass bedside end up compared to the stock? if it comes down far enough you might be able to make a bracket out of angle aluminum to pick up the bottom mounting point.

DMZ reused my stock braces when he installed my rear glassworks. Works fine but I'm thinking these will work with glass as well since mine retained the stock brace

 

May have to cruse by on my way home one night and make sure they fit.

I want to say mine were about 3-4" away from where the stock mount was, which is why I never reused the stock mounts. I have yet to actually see it while driving but I've been told that the back part of my glass shacks from the wind while driving. I'll see about taking a picture on my lunch break, I think I still have the stock brackets on my truck.

 

on my 95 the rear glass shook bad before I made some similar braces. I had all kinds off stress cracks from the constant shaking. I've seen a couple trucks that used the stock rear brace, but not sure the brand of glass. it would be pretty easy to make ones because of the stock inner pick up points.

 

What ever happened to this?

 

I had minimal interest, but I still have the templates, I can easily make up a set, just gotta go get some aluminum..
