Tony Luke's and Jims are both better. Probably the two best in the city

 

I was in Philly this past weekend. I was actually pleasantly surprised with it in the areas we went. We live about 35 minutes away and barely go.



We were being total tourists.

 

I never get why Pat's and Geno's are at the top of everyone's list. They are the equivalent of an over commercialized chain restaurant drunk food for the cheese steak world. Yes, I get the tradition, and they haven't gone and exploited their popularity like Tony Luke's. But the cheese steak itself at Pat's and Geno's is mass produced junk food. If I want a real cheese steak in Philly I'll go to Jim's.

 

I like Tony Luke's but I get where you are coming from. I want to try Jims this summer. Heard it's one of the best but haven't gotten a chance to go

 

I'll have I take a trip
To philly this summer and try those out. I've been dying for a good cheese steak lately.

 

There are other places better but Jims is the best mentioned so far.

Here's comes pittsburgh trying to be relevant in the cheese steak conversation.

 

Maybe we should all meet up at Dalessandro's again. That big lot made parking super easy.

Being from Philly and really liking my food, I've tried all the big name steak joints (Geno's, Pat's, Tony Luke's, Delassandro's, Jim's, Steve's Prince of Steaks)

John's Roast Pork actually has the second best cheese steaks (that I've had). The best that I've had were from a place on Torresdale Ave near the Tacony Palmyra Bridge that used to be called Chink's (they were forced by the city to change their name for PC reasons, now it's Joe's Steaks)

 

Honestly after having Tony Lukes and Primantis...

I'll take Primantis any day

 

Tony Likes sucks. Every time I eat there I have to make a mad dash home to the bathroom. Chunks is the shit! Used to eat there when I worked in Port Richmond.

 

wow there's quite a few more known cheese steak places then i thought in the philly area.
