I think you should be fine. I saw that discussed on another thread. 20-22 is ideal, but someone used 18 and was fine.

glad that this came up. So if i regear and don't really care about speedo (i have a gps that is more accurate anyways..) do i need to do this for CA smog??
I remember when i went to get smogged the guy asked if i had regear'd or anything cause if i would have then i would need to do something to bring it up to smog?

edit: sorry kind of off topic but i figured people in this thread would know.

I can't see why it would have anything to do with smog.

But just in case, follow this rule: When a smog guy asks if you have any mods, just say: no, its all stock.

BTW - if you re-gear, it's not only the speedo that's off, but the odometer as well. If you have an auto trans, I read someone say that it altered their shift points as well, but I'm not sure about that.

If you have an automatic tranny it would be even more beneficial to recalibrate the speedometer. Ur speed sensor is what relays information back to the ECU to decide your shift points given your speed. And of course your truck will start racking up UNTRUE mileage.

Not yet lol got the wiring all figured out and pretty looking. I had a friend that was bringing his car up for me to replace his brake pads and do an oil change so i had to stop and change focus lol. Im planing on diving back into it later tonight. I will keep you posted with any questions and results.

Thanks so much for the helpful info man:)
