Nice submissions everyone! This was a tough challenge.

    Comments:

Pistol Pete (Eric): Very nice! I really like the colors in the background and the staging on the field like an old car ad. The noise is a little too much, though, I think it could've been a little less prominent.

Skidooman (TJ): Awesome colors! I really like those muted greens and blues. Cool looking modern architecture, too! I know that the surroundings often limit this, but the only thing I would've changed is the framing. I would've tried to get a wider shot (either standing farther back or just zoomed farther out) to include the building's shadow, which would also shift the building subject more into the photo instead of kinda wanting more from the right-hand side, if that makes sense.

slow03z (Ryan): Stunning photo!! I really like the contrast not only between the photo style and the apple products but also within the subject between the woman's clothing, make-up, and hair and the modern apple stuff. Fantastic job, man!

EFalco50 (Ethan): Cool building and statues! Is that at some sort of military base or aviation museum or something? Those statues remind me of jets. I like the sepia tones! I think a better way to frame this would be to either pick one of those statues to zoom in on or to include more of the building, 'cause as it is the left-most statue disappears in the building and I want to focus on the middle one, but it's kinda small in the photo.

hgfontana (Hernan): Hot car! I really like that low angle for car photography. Great level of noise, too! Not so sharp that it's distracting, a great amount for the sepia colors. I might've shifted the camera angle so the photo looked straight down the side a little more, but this turned out very nice.

Blackdog (Monte): Awww maaan, this shot makes me miss my high school woodworking. I really like the colors on that sander! I think you could've done a bit more color manipulation to make it look like an older photograph, but just the colors of the sander itself look old-timey. I really like the shallow depth of focus and the slight noise!

Medic2230 (Murph): Nice shiny bug! I really like the reflection off the hood and front bumper, and nice framing with the road kinda leading up to it. The sky in the background looks really cool, too! Sorta looks like a painting! I think the contrast is a bit too high on this photo, though. It makes it look way too busy, and I don't really get the "vintage" vibe from a contrast that's that high. I wonder how some sort of mix between your submission and the second reject photo that you posted in the photo thread would look. I like the noise in this one and the colors in the reject, but maybe a little less "charcoal" would make it better? I don't know, I'd have to play around with it :p

    And the winner is...

    Ryan (slow03z)!
Fantastic job, man! I can't think of anything bad to say about this photo. The framing is excellent (even though the skirt goes a little out, if you had included it it would've been either too zoomed out or the lady's face wouldn't have been in the best spot), the old/modern contrast in the subject and photo is phenomenal, like I've said before, and the colors are perfect!

Thanks for the feedback. I believe what you're seeing is the combo of the HDR and the high pass filter on my entry. The reject also has the high pass on it but isn't HDR. The sky was blown out so I did the HDR to bring it out. I believe I also reduced the contrast on this one. lol

Thanks a lot for the feedback gents. That wasn't my original idea, but the gf spent a lot of time getting in character, and I took a while getting the strobes right so I ended up taking a LOT of photos. That one was a happy accident.

Challenge for this week is sent.

And it was perfect, Bravo Zulu! Not sure about the Apple thing LOL, and I was a strong supporter in the day when it was 50/50 Winblows and Apple (by then actually Mac). Then there was Banyan Vines, Novell, and of course Apple Talk (what a joke). But your flash was perfect and so was the stage IMO. A pack of Lucky Stripes sitting in the background would have been icing on the cake, but not needed. Extremely well done good sir!

LMAO Ben you must be loving this one :) Go live coming up this weekend in NW Wi. so not sure I can make this one either. But really looking forward to this weeks submissions.....
