I want to lift my 2011 DCLB. I'll be running 265's. I think I'll go with an Old Man Emu lift.

My question is how many of you have not been able to achieve a good alignment or have steering issues when using 885 coils with the stock UCA's? I really don't want to spend the $$ on new UCA's. The threads say some do ans some don't get a good alignment so are we talking 50/50 chance or 1 in 100 can't align - just wondering.

With all the great reviews on the Dakar leaf pack I'd like to go that route. Given that I don't really want to spend the $$ on UCA's, I was thinking of going with 884 coils for a 2" front lift and then maybe remove 1 leaf from the Dakar pack. Thoughts on that? Oz already answered a bunch of my questions - thanks!

I have the 885's and didn't do the UCA's and had no problems with alignment. I'm also running Dakars with the AAL. Good luck.

DCSB with 885x's, and I can't get into the "spec" range on the alignment with the stock UCAs. So I've already ordered the LR UCA's. Everything but Caster is within spec, but I barely have 1* of caster right now. Drives and tracks fine though.

I also could not get a good alignment without ucas on 885 coils.

Hmm, interesting. Those who are not in spec and are using the original UCA's do you have any steering issues like wandering or ?

Mine wandered, but wasn't terrible. It did drive noticeably better with new ucas though.

I actually have 886s and didn't get UCAs and i have to say my truck does wander. Its not that bad but can get annoying none the less. Im working on buying some camburg ball joint UCAs with Moog val joints pre-installed off of someone right now. I would definitely recommend getting the UCAs though i do wish i bought them from the start

O.k., 885's and you better get new UCA's - got it.

You suppose 884's would be a safe bet with the factory UCA's or not?

Thoughts on 884's and removing a leaf from the Dakar pack to keep a reasonable rake?

The Old Man Emu pkg, assembled, bump stops, new UCA's, shipping to Alaska, and an alignment will cost me about 2 grande. I wasn't really planning on that. Thanks for the ideas.

Subd. I have 884's on the way and am hoping to get away without changing UCA's

I have 884s and no UCAs. I'm in the green, but my caster isn't over 2.1.

i ran 884x's with the 1/4inch top plate spacers on my 4cyl reg cab, aligned within spec and drove great with stock uca's. the alignment shop makes a big difference. also don't remove a leaf from the rear, if you have a cap this will balance things out nice, if not you will have a bit of rake but leave the leaf pack as is! once the dakars break in they settle down and ride sweet. also get the drivers side lean spacer/trim packer installed with your ome coils when ordering. don't forget this small item!

    Stock for now
I have an OME lift with the 884s up front (and a 1.5" AAL). My alignment is fine with the stock UCAs and my BFG AT 265s don't rub.

Good info fellas - keep it coming. I will be getting a topper so removing 1 rear leaf from the Dakar pack might not be necessary anyway. Thanks

I've recently put the Dakars in the rear with Bilsteins 5100's up front on the stock coils. Bilsteins are set at max height. Haven't had any issues with wandering so there might be an idea for you.

"In Spec" is what they tell you so they can take your money. Do they know what "Spec" is on a, now lifted, Tacoma? No. Caster needs to be over 2.3*, and Camber needs to be .4*. You will not get that with a 2.5" lift, or more, and stock UCA's. And by "will not", I mean "WILL NOT". The geometry isn't there.
