on my way to work, a Volvo convertible hit my truck.

The left front wheel took nearly all of the blow. only body damage was very minor and easily overlooked. The other driver admitted fault, and was forthcoming with insurance. No police. When i tried to drive away i realized the tire was rubbing an adjacent , now interference fit, control arm or linkage.

Given the nature of the damage, and it's likelihood of long-term problems with many systems in that impact zone, I want this to be fixed to perfect-new-state like it was. anything short of that i want considered "totaled" and i want a new vehicle.Or the resale value is destroyed as well.

It that unreasonable? to be accommodated by "Farmers " ?) right now it is at a body shop. Where should it be for mechanical? should it be brought to the dealership? or is this just dreaming and it's done.

They won't total something like that. The truck is worth way too much, plus your damage is fairly minimal.

IMO, should not be a big deal, very little body damage, mostly suspension damage. Guys putting on lift kits change the affected components every day. You should be good as new.

No police?? Man....you just walked away from the only viable proof that there was ever a wreck. That guy can deny it till the end and you dont have a leg to stand on w/o a police report. And insurance is gonna require one. The insurance wont know if that much damage occured or you made it worse after tha fact. Better get that guy to go to police and yall get that straight, or it may cost you alot of $$ out of pocket...

    +1

This is huge, you put yourself at risk by not involving the police. The guy at the scene can say it was his fault all he wants, unless you have proof he said it, your screwed.

Come back to reality on the idea it's a total... No fricken way. That's even if the frame got tweeked a little.

If you want to avoid the negative CarFax report get it fixed and sell it before the car fax goes through. Your vehicle is fine and so what if it has a Car Fax. Keep it and enjoy it till the wheels fall off.

Your damage at the most will and could include something in the Transmission getting messed up from the CV joint getting pushed inwards. This is only if your hit effected that part of the wheel.

As for a shop to repair your vehicle, Body shops repair mechanical systems all the time. They charge a much lower rate for the repairs. It's up to your insurance company and adjuster to make that call. They gotta buy off on where it gets fixed.

To bad this is your first post here. Get it fixed and start enjoying that truck.

Sorry man, no way that is a total.
I have seen damage much worse than that and there was no total, ask me how I know.
It sucks but it is life, hope you get everything repaired.

Looks like a bent spindle, which would explain why your sway bar link is rubbing.

Have the truck repaired at the dealer, that way any repairs should be under warrentee.

Hope other driver is up front about paying

Pretty much anything even close to a fair settlement is unreasonable to expect from Farmers.

But beside that.... yes, it is unreasonable.
They will not total it unless the cost to repair is 60-75% of the value of the vehicle.
You will take it to a body shop or a suspension shop.
They will replace anything with visible damage, then attempt to align it.
If it will align to specs, you will sign for it and drive home, praying that there is no hidden damage.
You'll worry about it for a year or so and trade it in, where you will get screwed on the trade-in value.

If you are lucky, you might be able to get a cash payout (few hundred) for "diminished value"... don't expect it. I don't know anyone who has been successful in getting it.

I had to deal with Farmers when my '93 Blazer got totaled.

I'm assuming yours is a 14 from your sig. They should give you brand new fresh out of the box oem parts. Beware of aftermarket parts. I personally think there's a time and place for a/m parts but not on a newer car like yours. And screw the toyota certified shop, take it to the Bentley/bmw/tesla shop. Farmers pays all shops the same for a taco repair.
I was a farmers adjuster for 5 years, you can PM me if you got any questions. Tell em you had an empty britax marathon car seat in the cab and you'll get a extra little payout ;). Just kidding, sort of....
