According to Toyota there here is NO intermittent wiper stalk available for the "base" truck but the stalk for the other trucks fits and works perfectly.

Order Toyota part # 84652-04141 “Windshield Wiper Switch” I found it for 97.57 from 1stToyotaParts.com. It will work in any second generation Tacoma.

I'm almost finished with the pictures for the install guide.

I finished adding the picts to the wiper install guide. In my humble opinion it is clearly superior to the one with the missing pictures on TN :D

I just printed out the pics and will be getting busy on it this next week. The step-by-step pics are clear and easy to understand. You are the man Roland, you're getting some rep from me.

I'm fairly new here, so I'm not sure if there is bad blood or friendly rivalry between Tacoma World and Toyota Nation, but they have a great archive of DIY mods. I'm sure some of us here are members of TN so you may have seen these already. But for those of us who haven't, here is the link to TN:

Not so much bad blood, but too many assholes over there now. I have over 4,000 posts there, but rarely spend time there anymore.

That, and the fact I hate looking through a bunch of threads for guides are the reasons I made this. And, as Roland mentioned, some of the DIY guides now lack pictures.

Thanks for the rep :D If you have any problems let me know.

I don't think there are any issues between the sites. They like Tacomas, We like Tacomas. No problems. I've looked around there for information but it takes so long for the pages to load that just casual surfing is just too painful.

Not to mention the site goes down once a month, EVERY month. Seems like the last time I actually wanted to find something there it was down for a day and a half.

Hope no-one minds me fetching this back up, regarding the downloads site? :) If anyone does have any write-ups or tech info that they ever wish to contribute to the site, I'll gladly pop it up there for everyone to access it. :) The only reason the write-ups/mods sections are a tad empty is due to the fact that our bunch over in the UK aren't as enthusiastic at documenting as most of our counterparts in other countries. :D

Btw, seeing as this is my first post, hello all. :)

Feel free to take anything I've posted here and put in your mod section! :D I used to search through dozens of threads on Toyotanation.com to find mods, and got tired of looking. Just wanted 1 place to find things or point people too. I'm not the best at describing stuff so I try to take pics now for others to follow.

Oh, and I was tired of telling people "go here for this mod" only to find out that the pics disappeared, or web site was gone.

    Cheers. :)

I know that feeling well. :D That's why I originally started the downloads site. It initially started just as a place to try and centralise all the available tech info for the Surf/4Runner, but as you can quite possibly tell, it's repertoire has expanded somewhat since then. :D The mods/write-ups sections are sadly lacking at the moment though, as you so correctly noted. Just on a slight sidetrack regarding that, btw, if I could possibly sweet talk anyone into creating a pdf of any future write-ups they may do, and e-mailing me a copy to upload, one would be most grateful. :) :) Can never have too much info.

That does appear to happen quite often, doesn't it. I know I've come across a cartload of dead links whilst having my occasional net scouring sessions for new material to add to the site.

Auxilllary backup lights, removed secondary filter,
Installed one backup light this week on my 08. I did not use a relay. I had a similar setup on my 96 and it worked fine without a relay. Its a round work light.

Gonna get the smaller lights later this week from WalMart like what is shown above, but maybe the fog light (wide pattern) instead of the driving (beam).

The link to the .doc file that you get to after following your link is dead. I'm wondering if this is available somewhere else?

I have the .doc file saved so PM me with your email and I can send it to you. It's too large to upload here, and I gave up trying to make it smaller.

For the daytime runninng light mod and over head console lights to come one when opening door. Do I need any special kind of wire and what gauge?

For the DRL mod I just used some wire I had laying around that happened to be slightly larger than the stock wiring for the lights. Not sure of the gauge. You'd probably be ok just using similarly sized wire.

Only time I use larger wire is when I know I'm drawing more power: amp, fog lights, winch, air compressor, etc.

The link to the document in the thread above and in the forum thread where I found the info about making the 12V power outlet and cig. lighter constant on is dead.

There are download links for the document in various formats below.

The instructions were not created by me. To the best of my knowledge they were created by the user remelad of the Custom Tacos and TTORA forums. I have followed these instructions to modify the 12V power outlets in my 2007 Tacoma.

There is no warranty, guarantee, or any other assurance that the instructions linked to above are accurate. Any problems that they cause are the responsibility of the the person who chooses to follow them.

    Some notes:

Some people have just opened the relay and 'fixed' it so that it never opens rather than use the jumper wire. I did not do this, see the TTORA thread if you want to modify the relay.

Be careful when you remove the strip below the steering wheel for access. The hood release catch it held in place by a plastic clip and can be broken easily if you let this piece hang by it or apply too much force removing it.

These instructions can be used for general instructions for gaining access to the fuse block.
