When was Cal Fire created? It was after the '03 & '07 Fires correct? Or was it just revamped after those?

 

I believe after 03. It was more of a reorganization of resources with a new name. I think, not 100%

 

Maybe thats why the responses and evac notices are better now?

Im not from here just speculating...

 

No doubt, the 07 fires were handled much better than 03. Still devastating but the suppression efforts seemed to be much more organized. The 03 fire caught everyone off guard and was like we had never seen before in recent history. Now everyone is much more aware.

 

Dont forget, it was these agencys that argued over jurisdiction & who was supposed to respond to the '03 fire, that fucker went unchecked for almost 6 hours after sheriff's astrea called it in....

This for sure. I got evacuated in 03 and 07....in 03 only had the police pounding on the door at the last second to get out. In 07 had the reverse 911 and then the police showed up about 30 mins later but with a couple of hours to spare.

Gotta figure there were multiple water sources to refill with all the ponds on the golf courses that were literally 100's of feet away so all the copters we not waiting to use the same source. Think it also helped that all these 6000+ square foot homes probably have $1000 water bills and water 3 times a day. Also most can afford to pay someone else to clear a big fire break. There are def some fat houses out there.

 

You can convert the pre runner spindles to 4x4 can't you?

Saw it the other night and almost texted you but it was 11:30

 

I went from my place in the San Pasqual valley to my parents in Escondido to my grandmothers in Fallbrook and finally went through camp pend to o'side harbor and got the last room at a shit hole hotel on mission! Got evacuated out of all 3 houses. It was crazy though when they started evac'ing la cost and Encinitas....thought it was gonna burn right to the pacific!

 

I believe it was CDF that handled this previously.
