hey guys i just need quick clarification. on the shasta it says the bars are 32" apart, but it doest say that they run the length of the tent. in the pics it shows they do so if my mounting bars are say 39" apart im good right?

The reason that it doesn't say that they run the length of the tent may be because they can be mounted either along the length or along the width of the tent, depending on whether you want your ladder to come off of the side of your truck or the rear of your truck.

On my Shasta, the mounting holes were 32 1/4" apart whether measured across the length or the width of the tent base/floor, which is rectangular. This caused an issue with my Thule rack because the tent's mounting rails landed right on top of the Thule towers. The towers on the Thule rack do not go straight up-and-down, but curve inward from the bases up.

Now my holes are 30 1/4" apart, as I re-drilled them. I found that there are aluminum ribs that run width-wise within the plastic and aluminum skin of the tent floor, and my new holes are still centered within those ribs same as before, so I had no issue with altering the hole location.

I assume that by saying that your "mounting bars" are 39 inches apart, you are referring to your rack system's load bars. If the load bars, running across the vehicle are 39" apart, that's ok. The mounting rails on the Shasta are 56" long, if memory serves. That means you'd have 8 1/2" of tent overhanging each load bar. I think I'd space the load bars a bit further apart if the option exists.

If, on the other hand, you mean that there is 39 inches between your towers on a given load bar, you should still be okay but that depends on where you're taking that measurement from as the towers are not vertical.

The mounting rails for the tent will run perpendicular to the rack's load bars and need to be either inboard or outboard of the point where your towers mount to your rack's load bars, and have enough room for the clamps to go under the crossbars.

Just got tracking information on my RTT. I have to check with Bobby, as I was working with a group shipping out of Atlanta, but tracking info says it is coming to Montgomery. Bobby, if you read this then get with me. I didn't pay for shipping because we were doing a group shipping rate. If I got mine sent direct instead, then I need to pay you for shipping costs.

You know what, he emailed me to say the folks who ordered early had gotten their tents shipped. I didn't think to reply and ask about yours since we never mentioned breaking yours from our group ship.

If yours already shipped, it looks like we'll both end up having to pay full shipping and mine will be one of last to arrive since I waited until we had the group order together. :(

Lesson learned - forget trying to save a few extra $ - if you want something from a GB in a timely manner, order immediately and pay whatever it costs.

Has this happened to anyone? I'm fuming, was airing her out to dry after my second use. Small snag and zipper busted. Now the zipper won't budge!

wow.... Ive used mine a zillion times and never ran into that. Just send bobby an email with some pictures. Im sure he will set you up.

Last time I knew someone had an issue with something, he had them go to a upholstery place and bobby covered the cost. Hes a stand up man!!

In the future pay close mind to zipping and unzipping the cover. I can see the blue section appears to be caught in the zipper. I always take extra care to not snag anything with it.

I've had my zipper get stuck more that a few times. It has always occurred when zipping rather than unzipping. Usually it is caused by the zipper catching some of the tent fabric. I have never broken the little handle though.

Usually, pulling on the caught fabric while working the zipper gets everything freed back up.

Ya I had my finger on the inside trying to keep it clear, it barely caught and wouldn't move back. Seems it caught the fabric good somehow. So surprised the zipper head broke like that.

I left it as is for now and will try and jimmy it out again tomorrow.

I emailed bobby and sent a pic, just poured myself a drink to soak in this minor disaster.
