They should not have kept your truck. They should've just ordered parts and sent you on your way, then had you come back after the parts are there to be installed.

Finally the weather is good enough to start on mine.
I already have the mount installed with the harsh ride tsb springs.
So the wheel damper is ordered and I'll get it up on the alignment machine rack sometime next week. I'm doing it to see if I can calm down the vibe when I'm towing my boat.
    Should be an interesting result..

Lesson learned. They've had it a week now and no calls from them to update me. All I've talked to is a service advisor... oh well.

yeah that shit would not fly with me. Dealer had my truck for 48 hours (dropped it off wed night, picked up friday) so they could work on it thursday and friday (they had to install all 3 steps at once as i forced em to measure before doing anything)

They then used a solid quater tank of gas idiling and driving it, then threatened me with 7 bucks a gallon charge on the loaner car.

I dropped mine off at a dealer this weekend and they test drove it several times and then blamed it on my "aggressive off-road tires". It frustrated me pretty well but I told them I would take it to a different dealer because the tech had no clue what he was doing. I also asked them if they fixed the most current recall on the truck and the service guy said I didn't have any recalls, and they check every vehicle for recalls when they come in. I asked him of the recall notice I got in the mail was just junk mail and he was like oh it probably already got fixed, it was funny seeing his tune change once I told him this was the first time the truck had been to the dealer since I received the letter. Then it was oh sir I can check again just to double check.. Blah blah I told him to get bent and I was going to a different dealer, I am calling the manager tomorrow about it. This I was Kieth Pierson Toyota Dealership in Jacksonville, Florida. So be aware they are hit and miss on service. This was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

Yikes! I live about 10 minutes from them. I haven't been in yet since moving here, but was planning to stop in to grab an oil filter and catch up on recalls (I think I have a seatbelt recall). Now I'm thinking twice about going there! Thanks for the heads-up.

Got a call from the dealer. Said that it was ready... new mount got rid of all the vibration. Went to pick it up, drove it 200 feet and gave it back to them... FIX IT! At least I got to talk to the tech this time. Guess they'll keep it another week :(

NO ONE should be settling for ANYTHING LESS than the TSB taken all the way to the end and 4 leaf packs ... PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

You keep saying that when it isn't up to anyone but the dealer to put the leafs on. If the truck isn't within spec for new leafs and they refuse to do it, there's nothing you can do about it. That was confirmed to me by Toyota Corporate.

if w/e dealer you are at is saying that your angles are not within spec they are lying or more likely do not know what they are doing. Toyota got this down, their charts cover all the possible ranges and configs.

Had mine in for TSB last Thursday. First off dealer ordered wrong leaf springs. Had correct ones (?) overnighted. When I picked it up, I noticed vibration gone on acceleration but now occurs on deceleration around 20 mph and continues at a constant 15-25 mph. Much worse than before to a point where you have interior buzzing and feel it through seat and steering wheel. When you apply brakes and slow down quickly the vibration and moaning is very evident. Go back this Thursday. NOT HAPPY!

I have massive vibes on acceleration, but even with my own angle finder I'm at -1 degree. That puts me out of spec on the measurement. I've studied this TSB top to bottom. The new dealer I took it to may work with me on it but I'm not sure yet. Today they're doing the useless steering wheel damper and the mounts. I'm not sure yet what they're going to say if the vibes are still there and I'm still out of spec for new leafs.

from the pinion does the angle of the drive shaft go upwards or downwards.

IE if you were looking at it from the side, does the driveshaft point at more of an angle up than the pinion or less of an angle.

Got truck back today And all I have to say is Hot Damn. Drives much smoother at take off and all around. Also the vib I was getting in my steering wheel around 40mph and 70mph is also eliminated. The rear sits a lil higher but I don't mind. Much happier driving the truck now.

The pinion is at less of an angle than the driveshaft. The pinion is at 4 degrees and the shaft is at 5 degrees.

I did notice that the vibes are much worse when all my family is in the truck and weight in the bed. So as the suspension lowers, the angles even out. I put a couple hundred pounds in the bed yesterday to test my theory and sure enough, both the pinion and shaft were at exactly the same angle, which WOULD put me in spec for new leafs. So this morning before dropping off the truck I stopped across the street from the dealer and filled up the gas tank in hopes that it would help me get the measurements I need.

Curious which dealer did your tsb work? I bought mine from Maita and have been considering talking to them for my 2012.

Take it to roseville toyota. They have done several tsb. One of the tech there drives a taco himself. One apt for them to confirm it and about a week for parts. Then another day for install. Everything was a smooth process. Ask for either steve or heath as the service advisor. Plus they compt a free rental.
