    I think it's common that people believe this and I think most elected to the Federal Government want the people to believe this...after all we're a "post Constitution society" according the the man one heartbeat away from being in position of our leader.

    That fact is, the intent of the Constitution is to limit federal authority..."those powers not specifically spelled out in Constitution are to be reserved for the individual states".

    No need to go into my personal feelings (I rather not be banned for my beliefs) but, I'll just say I prefer smaller more localized regulation.

    Stop saying that we had no speed limit! The law saw "reasonable and prudent" which meant that there was no set number but that it was up to the driver to determine a safe speed to travel based on road conditions, etc and you could still get stopped for speeding. Unfortunately everyone interpreted that as "drive like a bat out of hell" and just floored it. It was terrifying. Middle of winter on icy roads and you had semi trucks going 90mph and all stacked up one after another. If you chose to go a more reasonable speed then you had semis whizzing past you one after another after another. And then cars would pass you until they caught up with another slow moving vehicle and then had to slam on their brakes to avoid rear ending people. And two lane roads were even worse. People wanted to go fast so when they caught up to a slower vehicle they would just pass them - on blind curves, on double yellows, didn't matter. The law was changed back to a set speed limit because people couldn't exhibit good judgement.
