Hopefully all of the trails won't be closed up. I actually enjoy the rides there, and it isn't a 4 hour drive for me to get there. I mean I like Stoney, but I hate that it takes me 3-4 hours to GET there.

Great Thanks. My buddy and I are both in a time crunch on Saturday due to a wedding for another friend, so I think we've decided to ride out to the trails at the Hoover Met. Have y'all done any wheeling out there? We do need to all make a trip out to the Slab or Stoney real soon.

Technically I will be gaining ground clearance.. U-bolt flip kits :p

But I just plan to finish ordering up my lift stuff these next two paychecks. Then I'm gonna regear my axles and lock, then bigger tires again, then regear my t-case.

Bad thing is I gotta buy a phone cause mine just crapped out. So if any of you have an old verizon phone you wanna let go for cheap holler at me!

Next on my list of mods is Relentless rear bumper...(5 months out) SHEESH!! WTF?
Safari snorkel, anyone with experience on the install with these? And just ordered a Midland 1001LWX CB. Got for about half off due to a buddy who sells them. I plan on installing it in the usual ash tray position...Anyone have any specs on this install? Also, what are y'alls thoughts on antenna's? Good website for order with mounting bracket?

    Thanks guys!

There is a guy on here that has a hood mount for a first gen for the antenna. Safari snorkels are easy, as long as you follow the template they give you for the drilling. The only thing about them is water getting in them when it rains. I typically turned the top around when driving in the rain. Make sure everything is sealed off with some sort of sealant on the tubes you use. I drove my brothers first gen and didn't have a problem with the snorkel at all. The only issue was deep mudholes and throwing water/mud from the front tire.

The comment that it's closed and sold is in reference to the New Slab. There was two different slabs, and the new one was destroyed and removed about a year ago.

I seem to remember RebelTaco (a member who lives over there) saying something about the police arresting anyone they find in that area because someone got seriously injured there. That may have changed though.

The snorkel is not to bad to install. I will tell you that you're wasting your time if it's your daily driver and you don't plan to plunge it in water. The hassle of keeping rain out of it sucks if you have to drive it all the time.

    Yeah, what he said...VVV

Snorkels aren't designed so you can "plunge" your vehicle as Dave stated. They are designed to get the intake to the highest point on the vehicle. What you do with it is completely up to you. If you want to plunge your vehicle, go ahead. It's not that big of a hassle keepin water out of it. Turn the top around and haul ass! :burnrubber:

Turning the top around makes it harder for your engine to breathe. If it was my daily driver, I'd prefer to not have to clean the water and mud out of it like I do on my trail rig. ;)

Im not familiar with the 3.4, but there is a write up called "different approach to a snorkel" or something like that where a guy routed his intake into his cowl on the 4.0 for about $25 that seems to work well and not big too big an issue except at hwy speeds and ac is on fresh air. This might be a better option

I had no problem with it breathing. Still sucked air just wasn't being forced. If you think about it, it doesn't change anything from not having the snorkel. If you take your snorkel and the extra tubing off, you will have a long tube leading to your air box that is pointed towards the rear of the truck. So, same idea and concept there IMHO
