Let's See Some Softoppers

I've been doing velcro only since September. Only once did it come loose but that was my fault not taking time and pressing it together when I put it back up. You can get extra velcro at sewing type store and add some if you need.

 

Got my best top installed last week. I'm pcs'ing from ABQ New Mexico to eastampton New Jersey. Packed all my shit in there and it's holding up perfectly! I'll post some pics soon

Has anybody found a good way to mount a CB antennae on your bedrails with the Softopper?

 

There is a little open space behind the softopper mount rail - you'd probably have to custom make a mount. Mine is here:

Used a door jamb mount online. I'll be custom making something soon.

 

Yeah if all else fails I'll do a tailgate mount like you've got. I'll have to check the truck stop and see what they've got. Maybe I can rig something up.

 

For sure. You know, I may even end up relocating antenna to the front bumper, or maybe as part of the swing out once I git'r built. Checkout the tailgate antenna mount that bamf makes... It is a bit speedy but IMO it is worth it in hindsight. Esp if you plan on off-roading much. Mine gets loosey goosey if I toss the truck around a bit.

Thanks for the link. I'll report back when i get my stuff. Ordered a Uniden 520xl and 4ft firestik that should be here tomorrow. I'll get a spring, mount, and cable when i hit the truck stop and see what i can rig up.

 

I'm not sure what you're using yours for mainly but... I think my 4ft antenna is overkill, and wish it were shorter. Post pics for sure!

 

It'll just be for wheeling and communicating with the group. I wasn't too sure which size to go with so i figured too long would be better than too short. I guess i could always sell it and buy a shorter one if it's too much antenna haha

 

Bought this used a few weeks ago. So far so good, ran new foam on the rails and cleaned her up. I'm holding the cab flap down with velcro screwed to some old pine board caught under the tie down rail.

Edit: oh damnit, I thought this was a 'tan' softopper thread. Forgive my insolence.

 

Just got it registered and plated again. One step closer to being finished! Still waiting on my inchworm adapter to do the 4wd, but it's driveable now.
