Tacomas are at the high end of the fuel economy range for pickup trucks. If anything high gas prices make them even more desirable for anyone who needs a truck.

I have a good friend who works for a dealership. he says that the economy is hitting them pretty hard. his dealership is pretty rigid with negotiations but some are really willing to deal.

The sticker on my new 2008 Tacoma sport 4x4 double cab was $30,380. i worked them really hard but negotiated them down to $26,142 then decided to kick back the $1000 Toyota rebate opting for the 3 year 0% financing. So my price was $27,142 plus taxes and registration etc. (just to give you a rough idea of what you might expect to pay).

Remember that after they agree on the price - they'll send you in to close the deal with the smokin hot finance girl. She's there as a last ditch effort to finagle you out of more money. She will try to sucker you in with alarms, protective sealants, warranty extensions etc... The products aren't all bad - I bought the warranty extension. Just realize that you can still negotiate this stuff, too.

She showed me 4 'options' with a hierarchy of features that get better if you're willing to pay more (of course). I dismantled her packages and picked what I wanted out of them. Haggle her as much as you can since the only reason she is the one offering this stuff is because they know you are psychologically thinking that you just 'finished' the negotiating process. You really haven't. You just finished the hard part. Realize that she is trying to un-do the deal you just made by getting you to buy overpriced fluff-features at the last second. If you want one (or more) of them - work her for them! You have to know they're marked up too (right?)

I'd recommend you start by researching dealerships. Reputations for negotiating, maintenance department etc... (It is common for Dealership Maintenance Departments to treat customers who buy cars from them better - my last truck I had serviced at a different dealership and was made to feel like a red-headed step child).

One last thing - Use Costco or USAA if you have them and are a member. They can help get the price down a lot, too.

    Good Luck

yeah they wont do the rebate the re-bate thing if you go with cheap financing.

0% for 3 yr is awesome, i wish they have 5 yrs like the tundra!!!

but i got online qoutes from dealership that offer that rebates... I dont why they can't give good finance.... the economy sucks right now anyway.

last sept I got a 07 deal that was like $25.726... which was pretty good.
I wanted to pay $25500, they wouldn't do it....the finance sucks... they wanted 7.25... so i peace them out.

you guys think I can get it for $25500?

I haver been waiting a long time... gas keeps going up... that's the only reason it is holding me back to do the deal.... Bush didn't do crap, but started a war, raise food prices and helped the oil company to make billions.
now I wish I worked for exxon!!!

    I think that is 4x2 models only. 4x4 are 0% for 36.

It varies by region. Go to http://www.toyota.com and click shopping tools / local specials. You'll be able to see what is availabe in your region.

Mods? What's a mod? Bone stock, baby. Well, okay. Maybe a few smallish mods. If you count a locking gas cap, coin holder and a behind-the-seat trash bag.
You got a smokin' hot finance girl?! On the last two vehicles I bought all I got was several grueling minutes with an older woman with bad teeth and then with a fat middle age guy who was ogling all the chicks in the dealership while he was half-heartedly trying to squeeze more money out me.

I'd gladly hand over some more cash for something useless if the finance person was smokin' hot.

That's complete nonsense and you've proven you have no clue what you're talking about, not to mention the fact that these comments don't belong here.

    Go buy a Ford Ranger.

Bush didnt start the war, extremists did when they attacked American soil. However, Bush is guilty of handling the war with the intelligence of a retarded 6 year old. Bush did not raise oil prices, he aslo did not make food more expensive. food prices got slightly higher because its more expensive to ship. as a result, Americans started to panic because of a "food shortage" and as a result raised prices themselves by simple supply and demand. Look at the hoarding of rice. there is no rice shortage in America. but some idiots saw on the news that there is a rice shortage ins some 3rd world country's so they paniced and made a rice rush, making the price go up. If NJ is taxing the hell out of you then thats a local state issue. although i'll admit, between state and federal the average American is very over-taxed. I dont like Bush but not everything can be blamed on him. he is an idiot though

I usually avoid political and religious commentary but....

The "war" was the result of the US enforcing UN sanctions against Iraq. It could not have happened if Sadam had complied with requirements for weapons inspections. The original mission objective of removing Sadam from power was completed long ago. In my opinion we should have handed Sadam to the UN and came home then.

The peace keeping role is not what our military is designed or trained for and they don't belong there as convient targets for zealots trying to earn their virgins. The factions in the Middle East have been killing each other since the beginning of recorded time. It's their way of life and it's not going to stop just because the UN and the US Congress have asked them to play nice.

So.... Should I change to synthetic in my transmission and differential?

As usual you are the voice of reason.... strange coming from someone that makes their own booze. if i made my own booze i would be the "voice of drooling on myself all the time"

use Dino oil, the tiny little fossils add 50 horsepower. you can literally have the power of the T-rex in your gas tank!

i just want to see if I can the tacoma cheap?!

If I was living the midwest. althou gas is expensive, but the cost of living is like pennies.

I live in NJ, it pays ok, Property tax is high, 3 toll roads and they want to raise it... we have 661 school districts when there's 21 counties!! (this does not make sense in NJ)..

as you can people from all around the world, NJ has offically gone retarded! I live the state, close to nyc and philly and atlantic ocean and skiing. I dont think that we have to pay out of our asses on it thou.

so I want to go for a 4x4, 4 door, automatic, with tow package plus off rd for like $25500? soudns good?

toyota is making them, they are sitting at the lot collecting dust bunnies.

As bad as it is I'm pretty sure Rhode Island has NJ beat :( but around here the Tacomas don't sit for long.
