I see A LOT of nice Taco's in Denver... thought of making a buisness card and leaving it on people's windows (drivers side window, not windshield... I hate that)

I think the funny part is I got to nearly 250k w/o even knowing it kept track of your total number or really caring about reps. Hell, most of us used it early on to poke fun at each other and post creative messages for the lulz. If I start making it up the 'leader board' now that I'm know about it I think it would be funny as much of an asshole as most of this forum thinks I am.

Not sure on lunch time tomorrow. I'll find out now when others can make it and start a post in the Event thread to let everyone know and get a head count.

Not asking for dozens of threads as you suggest. Simply splitting up one into two. As far as keeping on top of them or trying to ignore them that is easy since all you have to do is subscribe and unsubscribe.

Your experience is noted and I you explained it well from your knowledge base. I do agree with possibly combining the post trail run picture thread with a trail run thread as one unit. I still feel that it could run well and stay clean while separated from a Meet and Greet thread as each would stay focused on the tasks at hand. I will subscribe to both and if I can attend an event in each thread I will.

this is a good discussion and I see both parts... however you're distroying this thread... maybe quote and move to the BS thread?

I don't see much BS in the event thread. It's usually related to the event hence why it's in the events thread. I personally also make sure to bump the current event to the next new page each time so people won't have to go searching back through. I'm pretty happy when how things are set up currently. And besides, I wouldn't know everyone near as well as I do if we didn't BS

And our lunch meets are events, which is why they are in there.

I see where you're coming from and just don't feel like the discussions of lunch or beers or both are convoluting the trail run discussions. I just see a small # of threads with a small # of people discussing all sorts of things and building relationships with people they wouldn't otherwise know as a result.

I was obviously being a little facetious with the 'dozens of threads' statement but I was just trying to extend that out to prove a point. I just feel like if you compartmentalize every single aspect of a meet you start to alienate people slowly but surely. If I'm subscribed to an 'events' thread but don't wheel but after watching all the discussion and pictures after and a run near me that I'm suddenly interested in and join in and develop an affinity for wheeling as a result... well... isn't that sort of the point of these forums? If I don't think I'd enjoy 'Overland' stuff so I never subscribe how would I learn that I might actually enjoy it someday? What if we started a thread about fishing events and planned a trip up to Travis's cabin for fishing but anyone who isn't as interested in fishing doesn't even know it's happening when there's still plenty of fun to be had w/o fishing? I guess I'm just playing devil's advocate having seen numerous times over over-splintering these topics in smaller subforums can negatively affect relationships of a region overall. Again, just my opinion spelled out and in the end if we're taking votes for or against mine is still only one vote.

Great point and I, the thread topic nazi, apologize for getting this one off track. Maybe Sean can flex his mod powers and move all of this conversation over to the BS thread so we don't thread-jack this thread.

This is the only reason I try to remind people to keep threads on topic (as I single handedly am responsible for annihilating this one lol) because I know there are people who don't care for the BS but want to meet up and the email notifications for non-event posts can be annoying. This is why we have the BS thread. While I don't think the people in the BS thread mind the event discussions I feel like those who like events but aren't subscibed to the BS thread may miss out on contributing to the plans. And it could be that I'm completely wrong and everyone is subscribed to every thread in which case splitting them all up is pointless to begin with.

Sorry for the OT. Hopefully Sean can simply move this posts over to the BS thread and we can continue. This will be my last post on this topic.

    Exactly.

I dont think an "Expo Exploring in CO" thread would be clutter anything because thats different than wheeling or lunch meets and its talk can be buried by the other events in those threads.

 you are on a roll today!

We usually do Dickey's or Serious Tejas. Kinda up to the resident lunch planning expert. He will get very cross if you talk events in here too. :D

Wow. I apologize and openly admit that I am a bit naive as to the inner workings of forums. Perhaps I should have done something differently. I made a few visits to the CO BS thread and didn't see what I was looking for. It seems there are some pretty active gatherings up north, but not around this end of town.

The fact is that we all have quite a few things in common and I thought it would be ok to throw out a feeler for like-minded explorers that call the south end home. I see your Tacos on the roads and in the parking lots and I know there are people in the area that have similar passions for exploring and camping, I just am not a "note on the windshield" kind of guy. Seems kinda creepy. haha. I didn't see anything on TW that really suited what my wife and I enjoy doing...aptly described here as expedition-type overlanding, I guess.

We enjoy traveling on many of the same trails as the day trekking off roaders but, when we get to that awesome 12k foot overlook or high mountain lake, we like to spend more than a couple of hours there. In fact, we like to unfold the RTT, cook some vittles, sharpen some of our outdoor skills and test some camping and survival gear as well. Four wheeling, cooking, fishing, exploring, wrenching, mountain biking...all with a healthy mix of BS by the camp fire and star-gazing thrown in. Sound like fun?

Taylor Park Reservoir, Moab, Crested Butte, McAllister Gulch, Geneva Creek. Two days...three...??? You name it!

Anyway, if this thread belongs elsewhere, or named something else, that's totally ok...I'm up for anything. I never meant to ruffle any feathers, that's for sure. Just let me know what happens next. I hope the answer is to go on some multi-day expo runs! ;)

The Thursday thing happened because I normally eat lunch with another member here who isn't very active and my wife on Thursdays at Dickey's. A few weeks ago everyone was discussing a possible lunch date on a Thursday so I mentioned that I had a standing lunch date on that day at that location and the time varied from 11:30-1:00 depending on the people who I have a standing date with. So that's how the Dickey's thing on Thursdays started. They do a good Thursday special and that's why my wife and buddy have been going there on Thursdays for lunch for a couple of years now and it depends on what time they can go which varies. As a bonus pro tip, for those who want to continue meeting up with us, you can go to Seize the Deal and buy a $10 coupon for $7 for Dickey's. The Thursday special w/drink is $9.65 after tax so it's a perfect way to get decent food for $7 even.

I agree with what you said. If enough people want a separate thread for this type of event the by all means... go for it. I might be 100% wrong I just want to make sure we don't fragment the conversations too much.

No need for apologies at all. None of what I said was meant to be hostile nor was it directed at you... more a the idea of splitting us all up too much. I get that it may make more sense in this instance though so I say go for it.
